I'm not sure I even understand your question. I understand that for some reason instead of wanting to do an even exchange of razors without movie codes for razors with movie codes, that they want you to return the first lot and rebuy the second lot. I guess that is for inventory puposes. But I can't understand how/why that fact that you used ECB's/coupons to pay has anything at all to do with the return. You should just get $7.99 + tax back for each pack you return either in cash, on your cc, or on a gift card, shouldn't you?

Now I am worried about returning the ones I got today. I bought mine in separate transactions, not realizing that the amout I spent over $25 on the first transaction would not carry over toward reaching $25 for the second ECB. I was only able to find 5 ST2 razaors with movie codes and bought a 6th without.

After I got home I found out that the Slim Twins also have movie codes on them, so I was thinking of exchanging the ST2 for a Slim Twin package. But CVS is not near me, and I don't want to drive to town to exchange one pack of razors if it is going to be a big PITA.....

Your transactions should have tracked. They tracked for me and they tracked for many others.

The way you outline an exchange in the first paragraph is absolutely how it should be handled...it's an even exchange so I have no idea what the big deal is. I do understand the thoery behind wanting to do the return and then another purchase rather than just handing me the other pack since they are different UPC codes so that they can keep a tighter, more accurate inventory control.

At three stores I have had a huge problem making the exchange, two of the exchangers were younger males and were easy going during the transaction that I had done with them. The other store where I had the older lady cashier tell me that what I was doing was wrong because I had used a coupon, I should have gotten a raincheck if the store didnt have the items I wanted, etc.. I told her the items that I was purchasing were on sale for the same amount and the coupon was applicable to either item. I offered to show her a coupon so she could see for herself. That's when she just decided to shove the product that I wanted at me and tell me to get a rc if they are out of something, dont buy the wrong product. I did make an exchange at another store where it went smoothly. The register did the same thing of only wanting to give back what I paid OOP but the cashier handled it.

So my whole issue with this thing is that if I am having so much trouble just making an even exchange, what the heck is going to happen when I want to return the item?

It sounds to me like you just had a bad experience with a lousy cashier.

After my first transaction, this is what showed up on my CRT:

Schick, Spend $25 Get 10 EB
Amount Toward this reward $31.96
Amount Needed to Earn Reward $25.00

It was three lousy experiences at three different stores where two of the cashiers had been great during a transaction moments before. That's what is making me thing that there is either some system change or some change because I paid with the CC (never had this kind of trouble pre CC as outlined in the OP).

That is always how the CRTs look when you buy more than the amount for one deal. That's nothing new, odd or special. If you had purchased something else (but not something in that deal category) immediately after the CRT should have shown

Schick, Spend $25 Get 10 EB
Amount Toward this reward $31.96
Amount Needed to Earn Reward $18.04

For whatever reason it just never looks accurate in the transaction when the purchase was made. That happened for me every time on this deal last week.

Now there have been loads of issues with this deal...tracking, items included, etc. I am not saying you didnt get caught in that, you could have but what is on your CRT is not indicative of that.

If you have bought 6 razors at 7.99 each your total should be at 47.94 and you should have only received one $10 ECB. Returning and repurchasing a different one should put you over the $50 threshold and you should get another $10 ECB.

That is actually part of the problem that I didnt really want to get into here. I realized this fault with the CVS system last week when I did that same thing. Not wanting to get something I didnt rightfully earn I decided to just finish up my limit with whatever razors were to be had in that store and then exchange them out for Fandango code razors as I came upon them. But there is no way I am going to try to explain that to any CVS employee. I am certain I would be told that cant happen and I am somehow at fault. Even though we all know differently.

I might go post on the fb wall too, sometimes that gets a response!
I agree monkeydawn - basically the same thing happened to me. I reached the $100 limit last week. This week new ad - new event code - same offer (Buy $25 Schick get $10 ECB) - a limit of 2. I bought 4 of the Schick $7.99 disp razors and did not get the $10 ECB. Cashier said I had already reached my limit.

Let us know how this works out for you~

I will update with how the return goes. CS has already stated that they will not issue the ECBs despite the new offer code.

I encourage everyone that has done this same thing or has been confused to let CVS CS know that it is confusing the way they offer these multiweek promos with different codes.

Got response today. Im going to email them back a copy of the playtex with sale end date of 4/26:

Hello Michelle:

Thank you for contacting CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare in regards to our ExtraCare promotions.

I have made note of your comments and in doing so contacted the appropriate individuals and made them aware of the same. Please know that your comments are very important to us. I have looked into this, and verified that the Schick, Playtex, Banana Boat promotion started on April 29th, and will last until June 2nd. The dates should be listed on the tags underneath the items in the store. The limit towards this promotion is 4. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

Did you know that the Green Bag Tag is available at CVS locations for $0.99 cents? Attach it to any reusable bag and scan it along with your ExtraCare card. Every fourth scan will earn you a $1.00 Extra Bucks coupon that you can use on your next purchase. It's that easy. Please note that this product is made with 100% recycled material.

Thanks again for contacting us. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail or by calling (800) 746-7287. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you again.

Sincerely,

Krista

My response:

Thanks for your response, please check this link so that you may verify the tag indicated an end date of 5/26. http://images.iheartcvs.com/ad_scans...12/playtex.jpg This is a white tag which indicates a monthly deal. This states a limit of 4. I will post the new tag when I make my way out to cvs today, so that you may also see a new start date of 5/27-6/2. This is also a yellow tag which indicates it is a weekly deal and a limit of 2.

Thanks again.

Thanks for posting the response. It is ridiculous how they are refusing to actually respond to the real issue. I used to think CVS CS was great but between this issue and my raincheck issue from a couple of weeks ago, I am really losing respect for them and trust that they will make a situation right.

Yeah, the whole Skintimate ECB was .... I probably would have expected a problem on something like that, esp with a limit of 100, so I would have redeemed it as soon as the product got in, but it was totally not your fault, so CVS's fault...

I have had to, in the past, once had to return something w/out a receipt b/c they wouldn't let me return it with a receipt.

Definitely keep us updated! They need to sort this out...

I did anticipate that I might have issues with the rc because of the lack of event code but then multiple people told me that they had rcs without the code also. I certainly didnt expect to be told I faked the raincheck and yelled at in front of half a dozen other people. I did expect that CVS CS and the DM would care that a customer was treated this way. Sadly, it seems I was wrong on all counts.

Do you mean that CVS CS is better than RA CS in your opinion? I have always had great service from RA CS. I use the live chat and I think being able to q and a with a rep is better than the current email system that CVS has in place. I think corporate CS is one area where RA is better than CVS. I would have said equal until a couple of weeks ago.

No, I meant the opposite... Harris Teeter and Rite Aid have much better CS, in-store and corporate, than CVS does!

Sorry for the confusion!

I went tonight to hopefully exchange my non-movie code ST2 razors for movie code Slim Twins but CVS had none. So, instead, I decided to just get 2 more non-movie code packs to complete my ECB. I also got one of the small Crest for $2.87. I expected that plus my $7.99 razors would come to just over $10 and I could pay with my $10 ECB.

Cashier says: you need to throw something else in to use that, so I grabbed a bag a chips. She says, that is still not enough, so I thew in a 2nd bag of chips. I paid under a dollar and got another $10 ECB.

Looking over my receipt after I saw that she took off the full $10.50 for my BOGO q, instead of $7.99 as previous cashier had done! Now I don't feel quite so bad about my previous transaction going haywire.

However, I still have no tracking. My receipt says I spent $63.XX on Schick and I need another $25 to earn another ECB.

How did it go with your return/exchange?

I am not sure what you think the problem is with your tracking. After 8 @ 7.99 your total should be at $63.XX--right where it is. The $25 needed to earn another ECB means nothing. The next time you buy something the receipt will reflect that you need $11.XX to earn your next $10 ECB. This is the same way multiple deals always track. See post #30 for a more verbose explanation.

I havent done the return yet. I have only been in a CVS once since talking with CS and that was for a quick scan at the RM and a price check.

Returned 4 of the razors today. I decided that I liked the last set of razors that I got better than a previous set so I actually ended up returning a set that I earned an ECB on and will keep the set I didnt. Fortunately it was one of the weeks that it didnt appear in an ad. The cashier checked the ad to confirm there wasnt a deal on it, not sure what would have happened had it been a week that there was an ECB deal advertised. I just kept quiet about it when I realized what she was doing, was curious to see what would happen and then nothing happened. Anyway I received the 7.99 x 4 on a gift card. Since these razors were on a receipt I planned on using for the Stayfree rebate I asked her not to mark the receipt up and she did. I did bring in the rebate too so she could see why I didnt want the receipt marked up. The cashier was a real sweetheart about it.
