| 25% off Q with ECBs
When I use my 25% off coupons the discount changes as I use manufacturer and cvs coupons and ECBs. Do you know if the 25% discount is before or after coupons? And is the discount before or after ECBs? My total is usually less than $2 after all is said and done and the discount is less than .50 however my total could have been $100 with some items not on sale. Thanks! |

What seems to happen is that you do not get the 25% off of the portion of the item that is covered by a CVS coupon. So any $/$$, CRT, RIB and certain ECBs (BC and green bag tag as well as any that might have been issued by CS). At least that is how I estimate it and I am getting pretty good at estimating accurately, except at one store. I am now thinking that store enters some coupons as store coupons or MF coupons incorrectly and that is why I have issues estimating there. For example: $10 item -$5 CRT -$1.25 25% off coupon (25% 0ff $5) -------- $3.75 OOP Experts--do I finally have it? |

%off Q is very tricky. If you miscalculated and give too much extra bucks to pay, the % off Q will actually self adjust to lower the subtotal to zero. I only had once had a -$4.xx subtotal that ate into tax, leaving me to pay 4 cents for a $170+ transaction, when using a 25% off Q. Other times, I always ended up having to pay the full amount of tax.... Back to OP, not all CRT will affect %off amount. Only the ones that ring up as CVS COUPON will. The ones that ring up as CVS MFR COUPON will not. Other than that, what Monkeydawn said is correct. You just have to know not to use which ECB and CRT in the same transaction when using a % off Q, otherwise you may lose out on some savings. |

This is actually useful if you pay tax pre coupons too. You wont pay tax on the CVS coupons no matter what. So if you are in a pre coupon tax state try to save your BC ECB, birthday ECB and GBT ECB for taxed items! |

Regarding ECBx, the ones you earn by doing the ad deals will ring up as CVS MFR COUPON, as these are clearly funded by manufacturers through their arrangement with CVS. GBT, BC , Diabetes, Birthday, quarterly, prescription Bucks...etc, these clearly are coming out of CVS own pocket, so they will ring up as CVS COUPON. CRTs, if they are for a particular brand/item, most likely they will come up as CVS MFR COUPON, the exception is when that brand is CVS own brand, sometimes they will ring as CVS (BRAND) COUPON, and will be tax free. Example, those RIB Qs for Salma Hayak, etc. But, this week I got a $3 off Salma Hayak Hair Care, that one rang up as CVS MFR COUPON! If the CRT is for $ off a category, like TP, TB, rinse etc., usually CVS COUPON. But can have exceptions. $/$$ will come up as CVS COUPON, but if it's $/$$ health or beauty or cosmetics or..., then it's no guarantee which one will ring up, just have to try and find out. But it's always better to expect them to be CVS COUPON when you do the math, so you don't end up having to scramble for a filler at the register, !MQs will always be taxable unless for food. I'm referring to the pre coupon states. HTH. |

In NY I have noticed that most OTC meds and stuff like contact lens solution arent taxed also. But some foods are (candy bars, sodas). But that just follows our normal tax laws. So those will vary by state. |
