| Confused about Olay scenario and 25% - please check my math
Just got a 25% off and this is what I wanna do: 4 Olay cleansers @ $4.49 (non sale price - there is one kind, foaming pump) 4 Olay Body Wash @ $9.99 = $57.92 - 25% off = $43.44 Use: 4 BOGO olay body wash 2 $3/2 Olay cleanser = -$2.52 So how does this work? Im guessing I need to buy something to cover the overage but how much do I need to spend? Just the $2.52? Will I then have $0.00 as my total? What about tax? I'm in California it 8.75%. Please help. Thx. |

Ok, I don't know how this particular coupon is working but generally speaking.... CVS doesn't do overage so technically speaking they should adjust one of the coupons down to make your total $0. But sometimes, if you have something in your basket that the coupon would apply to that would eat the overage (vs. just a random item for the amount) it won't beep and you're good to go. So you'd have to get 1 more Olay cleanser w/ $3.99 being the cheapest and pay $1.47 for the lot of it. There's no guarantee on that, though. It might still beep, they might adjust it anyway. Tax varies greatly from state to state. Hopefully someone from Cali can tell you how it works there. Here, all tax is figured before any coupons so we pay the full amount of tax at 9.5% on sale prices. Some places, your taxable total is after coupons. Some places, it's mixed depending on whether it's a store or MFR coupon... |

So say the total gets adjusted down to zero, does that mean I pay nothing or I pay the tax of $5.07. Thanks!

The BOGO q for the body wash is only "up to $8.99" so you would pay the extra dollar a bottle.

| It would be 4 bottles of body wash so you total would be +$2.52?

In California we pay tax on the precoupon and discount price. So if your coupons brought your total to 0 but you have 5.28 in tax you'd still have to pay that

I have the total at $1.48 before adding tax of $5.50. So I would walk in expecting to pay $6.98 total, and if it was lower then even better.
