Can newspapers be purchased with ECBs?? Today I was told that I could not purchase a newspaper and use the xx/xxx Q OR extra bucks. They rang all the coupons and extrabucks in, then added the newspaper to the total so I had to pay cash for the paper. This store makes me batty. They keep telling me and my friend that you can only use one ECB per item (which I KNOW is false). And now the newspaper thing... but the best part is the cashier wants all my coupons up front before she starts ringing up...so I say I don't know which ones I am using because I don't know what my total is, She says well give me them all and we'll see what works....then stacks a 10/50, 5/30, 4/20, 3/15 on $60 something order. They have all the rules backwards there. This store has also said you can't purchase milk with ECBs (which my friend was also told was not true when she called customer service. So does anyone know about newspapers?????

I've done it before here in NJ. A couple weeks ago actually. I don't know what the reasoning would be behind them saying no. I could actually see milk not being able to be purchased cos there seems to be a lot of weird rules about milk (no rainchecks, etc), but newspapers? I don't know....seems weird.

I buy my newspapers every sunday at CVS with $/$$ coupons and ECB's. They seem very mistaken on coupon rules. hehe.. I hope you can get some clarification and that they will let you purchase them with ecb here on out!

I have been buying newspapers with ECB's and $/$$ for about 6 months now. I would call and see if they could not send you something you can take to the store with you. If I have to pay cash for it and not get anything back I would buy it at the gas station down the road about 10 miles closer! CVS would lose money and will if they keep letting each store set their own rules. I total agree with CVSing by the rules..but I want CVS to have the same rules everywhere, its is so hard to shop anywhere other than your own store with none of them being the same.

I've been buying the paper there for months...this is the 1st time I heard that story before. I hate to do it, but I am gonna have to call corporate tomorrrow...I can't have them not letting me spend my ECBs because I have too few items...and I want a straight answer on the paper and milk too.

I just got back from cvs- used ECb and printables to purchase milk and newspapers- never had a problem. In fact I have even used ECB to buy cigarettes- my CVS sometimes allows it (YMMV) . CVS does not seem to have the same rules across the board!

Personally, I wouldn't complain about the newspaper. The cashiers where you shop are forcing you to stack coupons by handing them over. I would ride that out as long as possible and sacrifice the free paper. I have never stacked or attempted to but if the cashier told me to I would.

| OK so I called corporate today and I had the WORST customer service rep ever. He really sounded like I was interuptting his day and he sounded....well, how do I say this...dumb as bricks. He said no you can't buy newspaperss or dairy that is not what the program was designed for...I said my friend called a week or two ago and was told absolutely she could and that it is frustrating to be given different messages. I asked him how could I as a customer know what was excluded, could he give me a list. He told me to write corporate headquarters and gave me the 1 CVS Rd address....I said well who should I address my correspondence to? I said isn't that a big building, is there a department or individual I should address my letter to..no they'll just figure it out. Then I asked about how many ecbs I could use and explained that the store said 1 ecb per item, he said well that is up to the store, nothing I can do about that. Then I said well can I get the name and number to the district and store managers so that I can clarify with the stores what their policy is...well he didin't have that info for me either, and gave me the number to the store.
