| B2G1 + B2G1: How this works and why
I've been meaning to add this to A Note About BOGO for a long time. I'll sticky this in the main forum for this week so everyone knows how to do the candy deal, then move it. ![]() Rule: you cannot use a coupon on a free item at CVS to get a discount, however you CAN use a free item as a qualifier (i.e. the "buy" for your coupon). Maneuver: Buy 2 Get 1 Free Sale - you pay for two you get one free as part of the store's promotion. Add a B2G1 coupon to this and you're using the free one from the sale as one of the qualifiers, one of the buy ones as the second qualifier and now you're entitled to another free item. B2G1 Sale + B2G1 coupon = Buy One Get Two Free. When you're trying to figure out how many items to get & how many coupons to use, one coupon for every set of three. Pay for ONE of every set of three. Be sure to account for the fact that anything free as part of a sale does not count towards in-store promotions (like the gift card). In Regards To This Week's Candy Sale: Any candy that is free from the sale does not count towards the $30. We're assuming a price of $1.19. 39 x $1.19 = $46.41 - $15.47 (FREE from the SALE) = $30.94 **This is how many you need to reach $30 for the gift card. Anything free from a sale does not count towards a gift card.** - $15.47 (13 x B2G1 coupons) = $15.47 Subtract another $10 for the gift card you're earning and it's $5.47 for 39 candy bars. Another note: check the maximum amount on your coupons! Sometimes it is less than what the item is selling for and this might screw up your math. I don't have this candy coupon in front of me but I think the max is $1.09 for the free. |

So I have some B1G1 free Q's for the nestle singles that are part of this deal. How would I use that for the Nestle Single B2G1 free sale? I get so confused.

And its not relevant to the B2G1 deal but for those whose ads have the candy $.69 instead of B2G1: Quote:

If you're using BOGO coupons instead of B2G1, then buy in sets of 6 and use three BOGO coupons on every set of 6. 6 = $7.14 - $2.38 (two free from the sale) = $4.76 - this is how much will count towards the gift card - $3.57 (three free from coupons) = $1.19 To get a gift card: 40 = $47.60 (you might as well get the extra candy if you have enough coupons) - 15.47 (free from sale) = $32.13 - $23.80 (20 x BOGO Q) = $8.33, get $10 GC |

Thanks...I ended up not doing the deal with the candy since I didn't want the candy around! This time of year is tough on my weight! But thanks for clarifying!

This helped me ALOT. Now, I can only imagine trying to explain how this works to a CVS cashier - Does the system already recognize the coupons in a B2G1 + B2G1 scenario, or will I have to explain this all to a reluctant and/or scrutinizing cashier?

Oh - another question: What if the B2G1 Q (or B1G1Q) is not a manufacturer Q, but a CVS STORE Q? Could a store Q still be used on a store promo such as B2G1?

I tried this last nite with my son and the manager said that I could only use 1 q per order. He tried to tell me that the whole transaction was a ourchase. I just called the 1800CVS number and they were no help either. They told me I would have to do 13 transactions to use 13 q's. It is riudiculous. At first the rep for the toll free # said I couldnt combine the sale and the q together. So I asked her where I could find the q policy and she told me and I read it and it said nothing about mxing the sale and the q. So she put me on hold and talked to a supervisor and he said yes I could use them with the sale but only 1 per order. |

I hope this deal goes right for me i really just want to donate them to my kids school as a small gift to each student. my kids are not allowed to eat candy often so this would be a treat for them. I dont plan on eating any.... (we will see how that ends up)

I'd go back and try again with someone else, too. There's no reason you'd have to do 13 transactions... I'd also bring a $10 bill and a cup of coffee and if they insist I'd hand them my card, the coupons, the $10 and say "go 'head", and just sit down and drink my coffee |

I went to the other cvs in town and they didnt even question it. Go 36 more to get the card and had no problems. I will not visit that cvs that gave me grief last night for a while. Quote:

I dont know why I cant seem to wrap my head around this - it's mind-boggling to me! I am going to write down this helpful formula and keep it in the CVS file in my Q box - that way I have it handy!

When I explain it to new couponers I tell them they are going to get 3 candy bars. I put 3 marks on a piece of paper and show them that the sale is b2g1free and x out 1 of the marks and explain that is because the register will take the price of that candy bar off. Then show them the coupon is b2g1free and x out another mark and tell them the coupon will take the price of that one off. So you are getting 3 but only paying for 1. The visual usually helps and I can see a light bulb come on for even the most confused. 111 11x 1xx hth

Not sure if this is still on topic, but can you also explain how a raincheck price along with B2G1 works? The candy this week is B2G1 and I have a rain check for last week's $.99 get $.99 ECB, with limit 2. If I use that will a 3rd one be free?
