| CVS in Birmingham, AL
Any one else from around this area? Anyone else feel like we get the short end of the stick around here. ![]() Some recent events: -No Axe coupons -Seems like we never get the coupons we need for deals in our region -Deal scenarios posted sometimes are way off (eg Razors are $13 in our stores while people post scenarios about $9 razors of the same type) -Coupons we do get are lower value (eg 25cents/1 vs $1/2) -Stores sometimes don't even carry the product advertised (eg Our CVS doesn't stock Cortaid) I could see how things could vary in regions due to cost of living, but I would say our region is a moderate to low cost of living region. Don't take this as a gripe or soapbox, but just an observation. Anyone else from around here feel this way? |

I live in Gardendale. I don't have much luck at CVS. I couldn't find the Cortaid and they were out of the Bic razors I was looking for (I'm trying to find items to donate to a shelter). I left there empty handed today....

Yeah I live in Hoover. I haven't tried CVS but I do shop Wags-usually Vestavia as it's the closest to me. The prices are crazy! The BOGO last week on Purex for example- could have just bought 2 bottles at walmart for less! I usually do well at wags though so maybe stick to that instead of CVS? Try and look for printable coupons as they are usually a good savings. Also look into ordering inserts from eBay or find a seller on here. That way you can find coupons from other regions. HTH |

I used to shop at the CVS off Rocky Ridge in Vestavia and they seemed to have a pretty good selection and service. As far as coupons go, I understand. I now live in southwest Georgia and the coupons in the paper suck. We have to fight to get to one of the two stores in town that carry the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. How are the coupons in the Birmingham News-Tribune?

Publix and Walgreens are the best stores I've found but after hearing talk of a card at wags- that is gonna irritate me. Cuts into savings and stockpiling if you can't hit multiple Walgreens. |

The Bham paper had a delivery special in March where you could get the Sunday paper (only) for 55 cents each. I signed up for 2 subscriptions. If the coupons are really good that week, I will head to Dollar Tree and get a few more copies. The papers are $1 at Dollar Tree.

Get to Dollar Tree early! It's a madhouse here in Gardendale. They sell 100's of newspapers every Sunday. You may want to call the Dollar Tree nearest to you and see if they stock up on Sundays... I hear not all of them stock up. good luck!

Hmm, I'm not B'ham metro area but in Jacksonville (Anniston/Oxford area) and I and most of my couponing friends prefer CVS over Wags hands down. Friendlier cashiers and the limits help to eliminate shelf-clearing, which is a big issue at our Wags. Our convenience stores that stock the B'ham News are out by around 10am so many of us have gone to ordering inserts and although we don't have them immediately (by Wed.) it seems to help out with higher quantity of Q's and higher value. Our local paper The Anniston Star stopped carrying inserts at the end of 2010 and is going to be starting back up because of the local outcry but sadly I won't be changing to support our local paper. If you think the B'ham News Q's are bad, you should see the ones in the Star! Our Dollar Tree doesn't carry papers so that is out for us. Anyway, there's my less than $.02 worth from a fellow semi-local couponer. |

I looked into dollar tree but the local one sold 235 papers Sunday before last in 15 minutes of opening! I have no desire to deal with that mess so I'll be ordering inserts as needed. I haven't tried CVS yet like I said so I can't compare. My wags has been good about having stock if I go on Sunday after opening. |
