I am seeing this discussed within other threads and I thought it was important enough for its own thread. Some areas are having their ads run JUST Sunday through Friday. Saturday is not included in ANY sales ad. Someone suggested calling corporate and another suggested posting on the Facebook Wall. I think the Facebook posting is a GREAT idea. I have already posted there and had a corporate response. Here is MY posting.. ********************* Rnlynnss Nebraska CVS I understand that in some test markets you are not running a sales ad at all on Saturdays. For many people this IS the day we have available to shop. Why would you do this? The Walgreen's you build across the street from must be VERY happy in these markets! CVS Hi Rnlynnss, we apologize for any inconvenience. Our goal is to improve the shopping experience in our stores by ensuring that advertised sale items remain in stock during the entire sales period. We also want make the process of transitioning from one week’s sale to the next more efficient for our stores by providing a recovery period for them between sales. Thanks for reaching out! OTHER POSTER- I shopped on Monday mornings and my 2 stores I use are usually out. Seems to me more stock is needed in all stores. I spend over $100 every week on items and it gets frustrating running to different stores and still have to get rain checks. Rnlynnss Nebraska It seems to me ALL retail stores....millions and millions of them... are able to transition from one sale to another *without taking a day off* And Sandra is correct, I often run into lack of sales items on day one and two of the sale. So again this does not make sense to shorten the sale week on the presumption that will increase stock availability. **************************** Please Join in on Facebook!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Ok, I understand the whole idea behind it BUT why can't they do it mid week? say have Wednesday without sales but leave Saturday with sales so Saturday shoppers can take advantage of the sales?

Don't forget that CVS is also on Twitter (@CVS_Extra)! I posted a few comments throughout the blackout week stating what a horrible idea it was. Somebody, somewhere has to read it and weed through it... let's bombard them!

I'm also in a no Saturday sales test market and posted a few comments on the FB discussions about this idiotic idea. No other store chains in the entire country find the need to run a 6 day sale ad so they can take Saturday off to recover, that explanation makes zero sense. I was in CVS last Saturday and watched an old guy leave his cart full of products and walk out of the store after he was told that there are no sales on Saturdays. I've been more of a Rite Aid shopper lately anyhow and told CVS on FB that I would be pulling my RXs from their store now to take them to RA.

We just keep getting the same response on FB. Its bs....I went yesterday & they were out of stock on the FIRST day of the sale, so you can't get me to believe its about ensuring they have enough stock! I worked at that store for awhile, I know they don't get a truck until Wednesday & they won't put it out until Thursday. No stock even back in the stockroom.

When did this start? How do you know which stores are in the test markets?

does anybody know if there is a way to email cvs corp. I had an issue recently that was my own mess-up but I messed up because I tried to check the next weeks' ad on Satruday and since my area doens't an active ad on a saturday it defaulted me to a store in OK (I'm in SW MO) - I didn't think a lot of it, other that it was annoying at the time - I checked the upcoming ad and it turned out that they had a deal running that my area did not - later in the week, with that deal in mind, I sent my hubby to pick it up and when he got back and i saw the price was wrong and no ecb, I then realzied that it was not in our area and figured out how I messed up.. But, really, shouldn't I be able to see my area's upcoming ad on a saturday even if I don't have a current ad running -that's very poor design on their website and it resulted in us paying at least $2 more that we should have since the item wasn't even on sale (not counting the ECB, just price comparison). Anyway, i want to complain but I HATE HATE calling and would much prefer to email them but couldn't find an email contact option on their site.. |

What a stupid idea, in our area they definitely need a day off tho. They cant post on shelf any of the sale items. I have complained to the managers and wrote an email about this. Apologies and lip service but nothing changes. Maybe they need to hire some more people if they cant get their people to do the job. Today a clerk was walking around pulling all the sale prices off the shelves (I was shocked they were even there). I thought that was odd, then I read this. Hello Walgreens.

That's too bad. Saturday would seem to me like a big money maker for them. Using a slower day to regroup would make more sense. Unless they know Saturday is a good money day and they pull the sales on purpose... Corporate will never make a change that won't affect them positively. The spin doctors are in place to make it seem like it's for US. But I'm naturally a skeptical person... |

Well compared to Walgreens, I think CVS' prices are a little higher. I rarely go in there now except for a sale. They built a brand new store catty corner across the street from an established Walgreens. You can certainly tell the difference in what store people will go to. The Walgreens was crowded while the CVS parking lot had five or six cars that I know weren't employees. Doing this is just going to make their sales go down, I suspect. I'm too tired after work to run into CVS to get an item or two on sale. Saturday is always a better day. |

Ironically, I went in today to my stores to grab up my items right when they opened. Both stores had taken down all sales signs on Saturday when I was in there - yet on Sunday morning they still didn't have the new ad signs up. So even with taking a day off they still couldn't get out the ad properly!!!

I just posted on their FB wall again. Although, they ignored my last post so I am not expecting anything (probably will just get deleted). Maybe if we all go on there & complain all day long on Sat. they will get the hint I would love to call customer service, but they are 8-5 EST M-F. Guess I am going to have to take my lunch break to call.

i called into corporate to voice my opinion .. and mention it to the cashiers when i'm in the store .. this is an awful idea IMO. I shop, usually daily, but i used Saturday as my last minute deal days. OH, how i hope this is a flop for them!

I would think that this would be unsuccessful. Are there that many people out there that would stop at a CVS on a Saturday if they had to pay full price for everything? My CVS has a Walgreens, Walmart, BiLo, Publix, and Rite Aid all within 1/4 mile. They are not a test store, but I can't imagine anyone would stop there and pay their higher everyday prices.
