My DF went into CVS tonight to get his new prescription and used one of the $25 giftcard coupons.
On the receipt it says that the giftcard ending in XXXX has a balance of $25. The cardboard attachment was in the prescription bag. The giftcard was not there when he left the store, just the cardboard part, and there was not even any sticky glue stuff on the cardboard.


The store says that they don't have it.

I called customer service and gave them all of the ticket info - transaction/store/time. They are calling me back tomorrow, they have to call the district manager to have it canceled and a new one issued. She wasn't even sure if they could do that!

I am frustrated because we just spend 45 minutes trying to get this fixed. The guy at the store insists that he put it in the bag - the cardboard, yes but no card.

So I should wait for the DM to call me, right?

UPDATE 12-01:
The DM called last night (see last post) and this morning the store manager called and told my DF to come in today for the giftcard. He did and they had put together a little cup of CVS stuff. A mug, medicine holder, dropped, little flashlight. I thought that was sweet!!!!

Ya wait for the DM to call back.. they will likely cancel the missing one.. and issue a new one..

They will need some time to track and make sure you didnt use the missing card.. also make sure that card wasnt previously issued to someone... The card sales are timestamped.. you have your receipt so they know when your purchased yours. If the computer says that GC was purchased at another time, that would be a huge problem

wait it out and see if he calls tomorrow.. if not call him and let him know what you think...

For me couponing is work though. At my job now (since I quit my high management job because of stress on my sickness), I don't have internet. If I did, I would be on AFC all day too.

Is there any way to get a gc when purchasing the Nova Max meter this month? Also, can you only get a gc to CVS or can you get one of the ones to other stores like Applebees or something?

You can't get a gift card for ECB's when you purchase a gift card you have to give them cash for it, and yes they do have many gift cards in stock, at least our store does..I just bought a Starbucks one....

I am still trying to figure all of this out...somewhere out there...rolling ECB into gc 101...I am trying to find out if the $50 coupon for the meter will help get a gc. Does that make sense?

Depends on your location... some areas will allow the overages to be rolled into a giftcard without knowing they are doing it. Others wont. One of the stores in my area, if you "buy" a gift card you have to at least pay that much in real money when you leave the store.

The other one will let you roll it into a gift card. However, the ECBs are actually rolled into the giftcard not the coupons.

So lets say you buy the following (prices may vary I am pulling this all out of my head)...

Meter - 40 (50 coupon)
Shampoo - 2.00 (2.00 coupon)
Chocolate bar - 1.00
GC to where ever - $50

your total before coupons (ignoring tax) is $93. Lets say you have $40 in ECB and the $52 in coupons.

What you do.. have them ring up the items and gift card. Hand over your ECBs FIRST, then hand over manufacturer coupons. That leaves you paying a little over a $1.00 (tax has to be paid) for all the stuff.. then you would also be given ECBs for the meter and anything else you may have bought that qualified.


Now that scenario will only work if they give you the overage on the meter. Some places will adjust it down to the price of the meter. It seems to be easier to get the overage if your order is bigger. If you just buy the meter, you seem to get it adjusted more often than not.

So,I went back to the store the next day to try again. There was another manager there who seemed a little more in the know. I told him that I talked to a friend and said that he was supposed to manually key the coupon and not scan it. (Thanks to all of you who gave me input to tell the cashier). That is what he did! I then got 2 meters for free and $40 ECB. I then went and bought Sam-E supplements (sale buy one get one half), $39.99 + $20.00, + a $25 gift card to Cold Stone Creamery, and a bottle of Tylenol $5.99. I had $5 coupon for the Tylenon, and 2 (2.50) on $10, and then I have her all my ECB bucks that I had so far. The original total was $97 and I paid $13 op. Yeah!!! I love the adren. rush. My husband got a small taste of it. I will be watching him to see if I can get him hooked as well. You guys are the best. I love reading about your successes and now you are inspiring my own.

Well I found out that CS basically didn't tell me the truth. I called back today and I got the same rep.
The rep told me that yes, yes she could see where the giftcard was rung through with the prescription and my extracare card was used.
--My DF forgot to have them use the extracare card, and you can tell it was NOT used on the receipt.--
She told me that she had emailed the district manager (on tuesday) and she had not heard back. So she said she would leave the DM a voicemail.
She also told me that she couldn't see the info from the transaction # and store # I gave her. (Wait, but she could see my card was used????)

About an hour later, the DM called me and she was so nice. She said that she JUST got that email and a phone call right around the same time. I believe her!

She is calling the manager tomorrow and setting it up so my DF can go back into the store and get the GC.

I think the DM was awesome for calling me on a Friday night. The rep, I am not so happy with.
