Our CVS is out of monitors so I asked for a raincheck & they don't know when they will get them in. They will not give the $20.00 ECB on the rain check so I would lose out. Called corporate and the spoke with the top guy and he states that is a Managers decision....so in other words they can do whatever they want!!! I think that is wrong. Any help??

Try a different CVS? Even if it's a drive, it's still worth it.

I don't think they are in the wrong. The ecb deal is going on for at least two more weeks (check future ads posted here). This deal will be going on for a while, so head in on Tuesday afternoons (or whatever stock day is at your store). They have offered you a rain check...they are not obligated to offer ecb with a rain check and they do not state that they will. How is that dishonest? Good deals are first come, first serve.

I actually had the very same exact thing happen to me! CVS is definitly trying to pull one over on all of us here! I called the corporate office last night, and took this as far up the chain as I could go!! The top supervisor there told me that even if I wanted baby powder listed in the ad, it was up to the manager if he wanted to honor the sale ad price, regardless if coupons were being used or not!!!!!! I asked him who printed the ad, and he said "we do at corporate, but not one manager has to honor any of the pricing!!" Sooooo, yeah, dishonest doesn't even come close, as this apparently goes wayyyyy beyond coupon use, sale ads, and ECB's! I asked him if they might be willing to send a shipment out under my name, so that I could be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase these monitors by the end of the sale. He said, absolutely not. Well, then I let him know that I had spent the last 3 hrs traveling around to 7 different CVS stores looking for monitors, and he had the nerve to say "well that was up to you!!!" This was after I had pointed out to him that the limit stated is 5 per card, and most stores had told me they only got in 2-4 for the whole sale period! He also stated that even if a manager had palets of them in the back, they were under no obligation to put them out during the sale! Needless to say, I am VERY unhappy with CVS customer care. I should have let him know that these kinds of things have never happened to me at Walgreens! He insuated that I was guilty of coupon fraud, and he made me feel horrible!! It is a CVS coupon with a CVS ad, and I just want them to honor both, but they will not even guarantee to honor their own unexpired coupons, without manager consent. I pointed out to him that on the very same pg as the monitor, the ad tells us to ask at the pharmacy for the diabetes book, and that there are coupons inside to use. His response was, "well we may have done that, but we never intended to imply they could just be used at any time". He frankly made me sick, but then again, he was only doing his job. I'm sure he doesn't single handedly run CVS either. But all in all, we can't bank on anything, even CVS ad prices any more. Let's all try to be best friends with our store managers, because that's the only way it will still be worthwhile to shop there at all. Whew, sorry that was so long, but I just had to get that out.

There are (or were in the past) "truth in advertising laws" that require stores to honor advertised prices and to stock advertised merchandise in a reasonable amount. Also, they were/are required to give rainchecks for advertised merchandise that they run out of unless they state that it is for currently in-stock merchandise, only. Some of you might want to check with your State's Attorney General's office for a determination on this. CVS has been good to many of you in that you have been able to really work the system of CVS coupons, manufacturers' coupons, and sale prices. Don't been too harsh to them. However, if there is a law that is being violated such as you just stated that managers are not required to sell item at advertised price, then perhaps that needs to be addressed by some authority.

I was so Upset to say the least, I felt like dropping one of their little displays just for fun......... don't get happy I didn't do it!!! ![]() |

I'm with Granny... many states have consumer protection laws that are against this type of thing. Check with your State's Attorney General's office or Consumer Protection office, and lodge a complaint. |

Great post! I have found also depending on the CVS, managers can be really strict regarding things and shady when it comes to inquiring about products in stock (hiding them and saying they are out). Shame on them!

I think you guys are missing the point of the original post. She said nothing about not being able to use the coupon or not getting the advertised price. All they said was they would give her a rain check for her to get the item at 29.99 but they could not give ecb after the deal was over. What is so horrible about that? They offered a rain check. They CAN'T give ecb if it is not in the system. I don't see how that makes cvs dishonest. It's just a case of early bird gets the worm.

I would have to say I'm with marbear on this one. Yes, I was FURIOUS at being treated horribly at CVS in regards to using the coupon and them not honoring one mgr's word once I got to the store. But, when I called corporate, they set the manager straight (who prob. hates me soooo much right now) and told him to allow the coupons. I'm not sure who the OP spoke with, but from what I was told by corporate, they have to honor the coupon and there was even a memo posted to each store about it. however, when i did go to a diff. CVS, they honored the coupon but denied ever rec'ng a memo from corporate. I think the problem lies in lack of communication between branches of CVS officials/stores. Every big corporation has this at some point. CVS has been so good to many of us, as GG said. I don't think going so far as calling the whole chain dishonest is necessarily right. Corporate told me one thing to my benefit. They told you another. They told sbombria another. It is just total lack of communication which should be addressed... that's the problem right there!

IT is in my opinion after dealing with CVS that they set the rules as they choose. I had the RX gift cards and was told that I could not use anymore of them and that the limit was set on a individual basis.... WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! Tell me how that is fair.I was told this by corporate You can pretty much bet that there are plenty monitors in the warehouse. I ask the manager at CVS about them and he said OH we have been ordering them for months but have not gotten any the warehouse must not have any. Well I bought two on Sunday at the same CVS so the manager was standing there lying to me... I did not know about the coupon and paid the 9.99 still a ok deal for something I plan to donate. I hope that you all find you meter are at least join together and complain as one huge group.. Anything is worth a try. CVS set the rules of this promotion and are back peddling fast on this offer. It bothers me........... JMHO sherilynne

well I not gonna jump in and complain about this one...because I heart CVS! and and i think they are the bomb.....besides if i was denied a coupon for an item that I wasnt even gonna use i i wouldnt sweat it....its just a bonus as far as im concerned.....i agree with other the early bird does get the worm I was able to get one with plenty more in stock and when i returned the next day nothing!! I didnt cry ....i just continue to check each time Im in doing other deals.....

I am not crying Just feeling the pain with everyone else. This trying to save money really is adictive. I have a monitor for my diabetes that links to the pump and it was 1200.00 so a 29.99 monitor and 20 ecb is just fun trying to find them I did not mean to cause drama or stir controversy Just stating my own opinion. Which may or may not be right. Keep searching out the bargains sherilynne

Just a quick update, but my Mom was in CVS today and tried to purchase 2 monitors. She had been there yesterday, and the very nice manager told her to be there early today, and there would be a new shipment. Well she tried to buy the only 2 they had out. The manager tried to price adjust the coupon, and there was an update from corporate there on the screen telling him he was not to accept that coupon with this deal anymore! They amended the rules in the middle of a sale, regardless of the fact that their ad doesn't expire until Sat. Now this goes COMPLETELY against what Big Boy at corporate told me before, that it was entirely up to the manager!! Uhhhhh, yeah, I guess if he really wants to keep his job, or not, huh?? I feel like they are just running us in circles until the ad expires, and hoping we get tired and give in. Please, don't misunderstand my heart on this one. I LOVE Cvs, and they have been a great company for the most part, but to not honor your own ad, or guarantee your own coupons, to say one thing, and then blantanly do another, I'm just saying is shady at best. I just want them to be as loyal to us, as we are to them with our business.

I don't necessarily think they are being dishonest but I do think if they are going to advertise an item they should have enough of them in stock to last more than half a day. Some did not have any in stock at the beginning of this. The whole early bird gets the worm thing - yeah it might be true but is shouldn't be. Some people have to work and can not sit at a store to wait for them to start a sale so they can get the good items.
