Okay, I know I've probably asked this before. I didn't go to CVS for quite some time cause it's far away. I'm gonna make a trip for a pretty good deal. Question.....Does it matter if I give them my ECB's first BEFORE the $4/$20? And what if I have manuf. coupons too? What is the order again?

Thanks in advance!!!

I believe use the $4/20 first, then the EC then the coupons but have enough items for each paper item. If you go to the CVS section they go into more detail on the top.

Order shouldn't matter unless you're rolling to gift card, then it's everything.

Otherwise, ECBs and Manufacturer's coupons can go in any order. But you should go your 4/20 first because if your total is down to less than 20 when you hand it over you could have problems.

I've always given them to the cashier in a certain order and it never fails, they always sort through and scan them however they want to. They've scanned the $4/20 and $10/50 at the very end (which made me nervous...always waited for the "beep" because at that point I was never at the $20 or $50 requirment) and regardless of what my total is at that time, the register always accepts them.

Are most of you allowed to use a $4/20 and $10/$50 together? I saw a lady who was much more into coupons then me in line today who did. She also bought a $25 gift card and walked out paying .26 cents!

I have never rolled ECB'S into gift cards, because I am too confused and too chicken, LOL.

As long as the coupons have different codes on them, they'll go through the register, as far as I know. I don't stack the coupons like that personally, because I don't think that's how they're intended to be used. That said, I've read that managers have stated that it's OK and usually no one bats an eye as long as it doesn't beep. If you don't have a problem with doing them that way, then give it a try. If the cashier or manager says something just say, "Oh, my mistake! I've got my coupons all mixed up again, I'll take that one back."

The different code thing goes for ECBs as well. If you do a deal that has more than a limit of one, and you do it two different times, you'll have problems using the ECBs from those transactions together in a future transaction. I had some from a deal a month or so ago, two different ECB coupons for different amounts, and I couldn't use them in the same purchase because they had the same code.

cvs

It was at the northdale coonrapids store..
She had a huge cloth purse that was full of coupon binders, LOL..
She got up to the register and wasn't organized and was wiping out coupons left and right.
I was really shocked to see her buy the gift card.
The guy checking her out must check her out a lot, as she waved to him when she walked in.
I have noticed her before. She shops with a friend together. One goes up at a time to pay. She is short with shoulder length dark blonde hair, and her friend is asian. THEY know there stuff. They made me feel dumb, watching there work of art, LOL.

Maybe they are members here, if so, "I want to go shopping with you guys", LOL...

I used a $10/$50 tonight on a purchase originally totalling $54. The cashier saw that I had 2 and told me that I could only use one, and I replied (nicely) that I was only using one. (I checked out again on a second round and used the other one.) Then I gave him a $4/$20 and he asked if I had anymore, because I could use 2 as my total was above $40! Don't think I've ever had a CVS employee actually try to *help* me!

another question from a semi-newbie:
expired CRTs can't be used but expired ECBs can, right? I think I've seen posts about expired ECBs being pushed through.

I probably wouldn't even bother trying an expired CRT unless it was completely amazing and it had only been a day or two since expiration.

With the ECBs, I'd make sure I'd rolled them before they expired but I would see if they would be accepted and I would call to see if they could be reset. (That's money after all)

In both cases I would say YMMV (your mileage may vary), as different stores have different rules, even stores that are just a mile or two away from one another. It doesn't hurt to try though. At the end of the day not trying means that you definitely won't get to use them, while trying might work.

James

Thanks James -- but I'm pretty sure Corporate can NOT reset ECBs now that they print after your receipt (so since April 1 or whatever).

I don't have any expired ECBs, just CRTs, and wanted to check before I recycled them.
Putting in recycle bin now.

Well, I don't think it's a matter of "they can't", it's a matter of "they won't."

A week or so ago I made a purchase at CVS and the cashier had put the register tape in wrong, so my receipt came up blank. It was late so no one was available to talk to, but when I called the next morning I was told it would take 48 hours from the time of purchase for them to have access to see what I bought and what ECBs I should have gotten. After 48 hours they called me and said they'd set them to print again, but it would take 48 hours. So after 4 days I had my ECBs.

So I don't think the new system robbed them of their ability to do these things, I think a change in policy about it accompanied the new system. That's why I said it wouldn't hurt to call them and see what they said if you do have an expired ECB. Especially because now with the new system they've taken them off line and taken away from us that method of keeping track of our ECBs, when we used to could go to the website and see which ones we had. I didn't mean to imply that they would, just that it never hurts to call and state your case and see what happens.
