I posted about this several months ago but since there seem to be a lot of newbies on here I thought I'd mention it again

If your store (not all have them yet) has the red scanner machine located at the front of your store (or in other areas throughout the store- thanks mrsfloyd) it's a price checker but also prints out coupons.

**Each Monday new coupons reset for the week. So if you go in on Monday and scan your card and get your coupons, that will be all you'll get for the rest of the week, except to get the 2 CVS generic coupons every time you scan your card (they change these up every week or two). Rarely will we get x/xx type coupons at the scanner during the week, but it does happen (except if you're one of the lucky ones who get them every week)

** When you can your card, keep scanning until the message pops up "no more coupons available". You can scan it more than once. On Monday I usually am able to scan 3-4 times in a row and get 10 coupons in total.

** Not everyone gets lots of coupons, they might just get the two CVS generic. No one knows how CVS works out who gets what coupons.

OMG.. I never knew you could scan your card more than once at a time! I am kicking myself in the butt now.. I don't even want to think about all the coupons I've missed out on!! Thanks for the information, Didie1.

Also, they may be in different locations in different stores. One of my stores has it very visible right at the front of the store. One has it hiding in a beauty aisle. One has it hiding in the baby aisle. And several have it on a pole more toward the back of the store by the rack of magazines. So be sure to look around if you don't see one right up front.

And if you scan your card and the screen says 'Item not found', chances are you're out of luck until the upgrade the machine from just being a price-checker, so keep bugging a manager about how you wish it would print coupons like all the 'cool' stores. LOL

I finally found a red scanner in my area and have been shopping that CVS for about four months now. At each visit, I scan my card twice....on the first scan I ALWAYS receive a $5/$30 coupon!!! Honestly...one a week!

Just wanted to let you all know too that the Blue Scanner Machines at 2 of my stores have been upgraded and spit out coupons. (AM told me all they have to do is put in a program.) It never hurts to try and scan your card on the old blue ones too.

It based on a lot of factors. it also based on your oop to what coupons you will get. Kinda like the e-mail we get that why some people get 5 off 30 or 3 off 15.

Also, make sure you scan BEFORE you make your purchase. I missed out on a really good $x/$xx opportunity once because I scanned on my way out.

Sometimes if I purchase something first it will print on the bottom of my receipt and then if I scan right after I'll get the rest of my coupons.

I have tried this and for me it never works. I only get one coupon print out of usually something off a CVS brand product. Never have gotten more than one coupon no matter what I do. I do have a newer card and that might be it. I can't find my old card so I signed up for a new one.

My SIL has a newer card and she usually just gets the CVS generic ones also.

who knew! i told my dh that all this time i could have scanned and got him a free beer ($2q)each month just for scanning. now he ALWAYS goes with me to cvs and if i get a $2q he gets his beer and i get to shop. it's a win/win for both of us.

A few weeks ago I was scanning my card in front of the scanner, and it took a long time to scan again right after it finished printing, so I spent some time there. When I was done, this woman cashier had the nerve to come and told me I was supposed to have only one card and scan once only. I said what? I only had ONE card, and these crts were all for my card. Of course I can keep on scanning until the machine tells me no more coupons available. She was trying to police the number of times I can scan my card?! how rude!!

Thanks so much for the heads up. I'm going to try it at the CVS near work at lunchtime. I'll feel kind of self-conscious though since the scanner is up front in plain view of the cashiers. I'll have to do a Monty Python kind of thing and scan, look around to see that nobody's looking, and then scan again

When I first started scanning my card almost a year ago, I got them once a week. It started out as 5/25 but as I started spending more in the store, they turned into 10/50 purchas. Just recently I stopped getting them altogether. I think because the computers have realized that how much I shop there, I don't need that incentive every week! I do occationally get the 5/25 Q's in the email once and a while.

I never get anything from the scanner other than two CVS brand coupons for things I never use. I never get CVS coupons by email, either, and I KNOW that they have my email addy because they send me stuff about CVS.com deals ALL THE TIME, even though I've never shopped CVS online.

I guess there's really no rhyme or reason to it. I've had my card since they first issued them, but only recently started taking advantage of the deals. It's too bad there haven't been many good deals lately! I don't usually spend much at CVS - never more than $25 and only that much if I have a 5/25 coupon. You'd think they'd want to give me more incentives to shop there! Back when I was getting 5/25 coupons every time I checked out, I shopped there ALL THE TIME! Now, not so much.

Sometimes I only get a CVS brand q and other times I'll get name brand q and then occassionally I will get a $/$$ but not too much anymore.

Thanks for the tips. I never knew that you can scan it a bunch of times HOW EXCITiNG!! I went to a store on Friday and got icky coupons then went on Sunday and got an amazing $2 free bucks!
