I came down with the flu 2 days ago and now I think I have strep throat. I need to go to the Dr.'s but I have no health insurance. It looks like it will only cost $59 OOP at CVS which I assume will be much less than an actual doctor. Anyone have experience with the Minute Clinic?

I wish we had one here, Steph. I would definitely take advantage of it. To go to the doctor here, it's $85.00 just to walk in the door. Then they nickle and dime you to death. I would go if I was you. They can at least give you antibiotics.

I have been to the Walgreens clinic and I love it! We don't have this at our CVS, but we have a new store being built and I think it will be in it. I only had to pay my co-pay. They submit everything to the insurance. Hope you feel better.

Yes, I have used the clinic numerous times, mainly for my kids. It is great, no waiting room full of sick kids, shorter wait time.

Yes, we've gone to the minute clinic a couple times! The service is great and you don't have to wait for 4 hours like you do at the Children's hospital here!

I just went...I have strep throat and double ear infections. No coupons though! And I threw away my $25 GC w/prescription!!

I know this may sound odd but can you use ECB's at the clinic?

I use the Rite Aid coupon everytime get a new RX. I know it says for transfered only but my CVS takes it so you might want to try. (I have done this at two different CVS).

My mom has custody of my nephew, but not legally so she has no insurance on him and she takes him to a minute clinic for minor things like strep, cold, ear infection, etc and all they ever charge her is a 20.00 co pay because she has no insurance for him! They write the RX or sometimes even gives samples like at the pediatrian and there out, usually not wait either! Did you call and tell them that you dont have insurance and what would they charge?

They could not help me when I had horrible vertigo...but I did get seen quickly. Man was that HORRIBLE!

Gosh, hope you feel better soon! I didnt have such a great experience there..but I guess its different for everyone. Glad you got diagnosed though and meds (although you didnt have the GC!)

I had an underlying condition she didnt find (went for strep throat, was told to go home and rest) when a few days later I still have 105 temps and went to the dr and had ROCKY Mountain Spotted fever.) Actually the Dr visit wasnt as expensive as I though oop, guess it depends. I then got BCBS blue cross blue shield insurance for $150/month. In my opinoin, it is VERY worth it.

BTW...they charged me $59 to be seen, $10 for the strep test and then $12 for my antibiotics. At this point, I wouldn't have cared if they charged me $200!
