Hello everyone! I found some clearance Glade Candles, Candle Refills, Plug in Air Fresheners & Refills today while on a quick run. Here's what I'm wondering, they are on clearance, with a green sticker, and super cheap. Can I still use the coupons I printed from the Glade website? If so, then I really want to run in and get a ton of them, they'd all be almost nothing, or just shy of a dollar.

I've never tried to use a coupon on a clearance item, so I'd hate to get my cart loaded up and then get a mean cashier who would love nothing better than to inform me of their policy!

I have been able to use a coupon on clearance, but I've seen a lot of posts on here for people who haven't been able to. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I have managed to use a coupon on a clearance item without a problem in the past. I have heard others have had problems though, so YMMV.

I have never had a problem using coupons on clearance items.

I've noticed if the barcode scans at the clearance price it will work, but if the cashier has to enter the price without scanning a barcode they won't use a coupon.

Example: Our store will put the clearance sticker right over the barcode so it can not be scanned. So the computer doesn't realize what you bought, so there for the coupon won't work.

You can always call and ask the cashier for the night. Get there name and use them to check out if possible.

I just used a $1 off Q on some shaving gel that was only .99! I was even checked out by a shift supervisor and he typed it all in and it worked fine. He did not complain or anything. Don't be surprised if they lower the Q's amount to the amt of the clearance price though. I lost a penny... but big deal to me... I don't believe I paid for the coupon I used.

It's up to the cashier and the rules the managers have in place though. Never hurts to ask in my book.

like everyone else said, it really depends on the cashier and/or manager.If they do have to put the price in manually then there is a chance the item has already been accounted for,so then there probably won't be an item for the coupon to attach to.Also, if the clearance items are less then the coupon, the price of the coupon may have to be manually entered as well.
That's when problems can occur.Otherwise the coupon should scan just fine,unless of course you have a cashier that says coupon can't be used on clearance items.
Hopefully you will just be able to get them and use the coupons on them with no problems.It's always worth the try.If they give you problems you can always tell them nevermind,you believe you can get them elsewhere cheaper when they are on sale and be nice about it.

I used coupons on clearance. I bought 2 pantenes for $2.00 used 2 - $2.00 Q's so it made them free!!

I came across this dilemma today. I bought 1 bottle of All Small & Mighty clearanced to $2.99. I had a $1 IP for it and the cashier had a heck of a time scanning it.

She told me it was probably because it was a clearance item. Then, I found a manuf Q in my binder and she tried that one and it scanned with no problem.

Weird. I am going back tomorrow for more!

If they are able to just scan in the item and the clearance price comes up, you can definitely use a coupon on it b/c it the register will know that the item for the coupon is there. If they do like one of my stores does, though, (and like pp said) and mark out the barcode and have to type in the clearance price, then the coupon will not scan in b/c the item is not in the register (it's rung up as a 'taxable item'). Technically, they *should* still take the coupon as long as it's for the correct item, but they would have to manually type in the coupon value. Sometimes they either don't know how to do that, or think they're not allowed to do that, or just want to be a PITA and not do it for you. YMMV

Usually I can unless it's black line clearance where they mark through the bar code with a permanent marker or put a sticker over it so it won't scan.

Thanks for all of your help! Finally got to go out today, new baby is 1 week old so it's hard, and they were gone! Today's trip was crazy. I really wanted to get 20 free prints, from the Plushies Trial Coupons, for the baby's announcements, and the machine cut her face in half! Ah, I could've cried!!!!!!! Anyways, got lots of Glade and more FREE mouthwash!
