Newbie needs help, my brain hurts

Hi,

I have been seeing all the great deals you guys get and I don't seem to be making that happen as my oop is still pretty high.

This is the scenario I have worked any suggestions?

Transaction #1

2 CVS composition books 1.98
2 Carefree Ultra $7.58
Adidas Action deodorant $3 (I am guessing this price)

-$2q
-$1 ECB

OOP 9.56 Earn $12.56 ECB

Trasaction #2

2 Carefree Ultra $7.58
2 Energizer $19.98

-$2q
-$5/$25
-$12.56 ECB

OOP $8 Earn $12.98 ECB

Is this decent with $17.56 OOP? It feels pricey to me but I guess I am getting a lot of batteries. If you can see a better way to work it please help. I do plan to buy the John Freida and some Revlon stuff later when my coupons arrive.

thanks

I'm sorry ... it looks like nobody responded to your post yet.

Your strategy is OK. You are correct when you say that the batteries are the reason that your OOP is so high ... if you need batteries, then I understand why you would do that deal ... but this isn't a good price at which to add batteries to a stockpile ... too expensive, better deals will come your way. (Same with the deodorant by the way, you'll find super-cheap deodorant in another deal ... just be patient.)

As a general rule, when you're starting with a smaller amount of ECB (like you're starting with $1 ECB), you would be best off minimizing OOP by doing a number of smaller transactions. Anytime you're starting with $1 ECB, and you're going to try to use a $5/$25 coupon, you are likely to end up having to pay a large amount OOP.

Hope this helps, even though it's late ....

Thanks

I already went. They were out of several things but I did OK. I earned some more ECB before buying the batteries and paid a little over $6 oop for two 16 packs and a few other items w/ coupons to make the $25. I am learning slowly.

thanks for your reply.
