I encountered a cashier that rejected my $5/20 today, cause it was not "original". It's the one you print off online newspapers like Kansas City Star. When I tried to explain it was an electronic newspaper, she said she have not heard of such stuff before...

I'm sure many cashiers will question this coupon since it doesn't look like a regular coupon that is sent to our CVS account. I personally won't use it because I don't live in Kansas city, so I can imagine that the CVS staff here will think that I'm trying to use a fake coupon, and I don't want to ruin my relationship with the stores I frequent. It's just my personal opinion though, I know many people outside of Kansas city have successfully used it.

But it wasn't just Kansas, other cities got it too...still ca is long ways from Kansas and I won't attempt using it

I live in KC and got the coupon out of the original newspaper and had problems using that last night. it wouldnt scan so the cashier said it wasnt a coupon that CVS issued - all their issued coupons came from the redbox, on my receipt or online. The manager came over and it scanned for him so no questions asked. thankfully it worked.....it was late and I just wanted to go home and go to bed.

I used mine from the newspaper fine. I have one from the e edition KC Star. I subscribe to the paper and I'm going to try to use it, but I'll ask the manager first and go to my fav cashiers.

At the CVS I frequent, if a CVS coupon scans or will take with manual entry, they will accept it.

Maybe if you let the manager know it's an electronic edition of the newspaper you subscribe to they will be apt to take it, especially if it means they get your business. If it won't scan ask them if they can try manual entry. It should work. Good luck!

I'm a subscriber to the KC star, and printed a copy from my e-edition as well. However, one of my most coupon friendly cashiers questioned it saying "we can't take copied coupons". When I explained where I had gotten it, she went ahead and it scanned. I just hate having her think I'm trying something sketchy so even though I COULD probably print unlimited numbers in the future, I won't. Just doesn't feel right.

As long as you have a subscription to the KC Star (or whichever paper hosts an electronic edition of the coupon), it is a valid coupon. There are valid reasons to have a subscription to a paper that is from a town you do not live in and and e-dition makes sense particularly if you dont live near where the paper originates...by the time you would receive a paper copy, the news would be old! I kept up with the paper from the town I was born in for a long time after I moved, coupons had nothing to do with it. I also know that some people specifically get different papers because they come with better coupons. Really, as long as you have a subscription there is no legitimate reason for a cashier to question the validity of the coupon.

That said, we all know legitimate coupons and deals get questioned every day. If your store is particularly hard on couponers and tend to scream 'fraud' at the silliest little instances, it is probably better to save yourself the hassle and skip this coupon.
