It has been my experience that half of the time a % q takes off exactly what I expect it to and half the time I am confused! Based on the SensatioNails thread, I am not the only one! Here is what I know:

% off Qs (unless a fluke situation) works only on non-sale items.
% off Qs work before MQs but after CVS qs.
% off Qs often work on a full price item that receives ECBs.

Hopefully that is all correct. So I guess my big question is ECBs. Will the % off be applied before or after ECBs? My understanding was that ECBs are not coupons, they are methods of payment and should not have any effect but that doesn't always seem to be the case.

Also, is there anything else that can effect a % off Q?

I think I remember this correctly.

The % off coupon will apply AFTER these coupons:
CVS Coupons (emailed, tearpad, CRT, $/$$)
Beauty ECB
Manually Printed ECB (aka Force Printed ECB)

The % off coupon will apply BEFORE these coupons:
All Manufacturer Coupons
ECB (that print automatically)

Thank you!!! I have some force printed ECBs, I am so glad you mentioned that because I would have used them. Now I know to wait for a tranny (hehe) where I am not using a %. I bet the times I couldn't follow involved $/$$. Yay, this should make a lot more sense to me now, thank you!

So my ECB took $ off my 20% today, even though they were not forced...Just FYI. Although, the 20% did take off 20% on the B1G1 item, and I wasn't expecting that.

The first time I used a % off it took of a certain ammount but then when I went to pay using regular ECB's it kept reducing the % off ammount with each ECB that was entered. The next time I used my cash card with % off so it wouldn't affect it.

Oy! I would be using about $28 ECBs, that is a huge amount if it takes from the %. I would much rather have CC than ECBs but in a purchase of the size I am looking at (SensatioNails, $59.99), it would suck to have the $28 effect it. I guess I could always use the smallest ECB I have, see what the register does, then decide how to proceed.

I really hate these % off coupons!!! I got one a few days ago and another one today. It's just so time consuming and fustrating to figure out what's best to use them on, and not using ECB's to pay for what you purchase is a pain too. So, I live in Ma and heard my state might be one of the test areas, so I've been trying to use my ECB's and save my CC's just in case we get a % off that week. I hope they see sales drop because of this and decide not to do this again

Update: I tried it today. I ended up returning the product because I wanted the deal from last week (long story!) but when I did the purchase, the ECBs did NOT reduce the % off. I didn't use any force printed ECBs but I did use about $30 and they had no effect on the % discount.

I almost said "As MissD said" but it really seems like there are a ton of things that may be stated policy but turn out to be YMMV when in a store.

I bought Physician's Formula for $13.29 and used a 20%, which took off 2.64. Then I used a $12 ECB that had printed regularly, and now my 20% discount shows 2.38. So in my case it did effect it somewhat, but not a huge amount. But I did also have 2 tubes of Colgate in the same transaction.

If the ECB reduced the 20% it would have taken off $2.40. Was it one big ECB or was it several smaller ones? Did any print at the red machine or were force printed?

Honestly I hate the % off because you can NEVER guess the correct amount that will come off. I have gotten to the point I don't even load them onto my card since they are such a waste of time & money. I mean who actually buys something at CVS that isn't on sale?

Lol I have been wanting a pricy nail polish that I have never seen go on sale or have coupons. That's what I use my 20% off coupons on

I got the sensationail kit today hoping the same deal would work as last week (the $10 cc) and I used a 10% q and a $5mq. She first scanned the %q and then the mq. I was SUPER disappointed when no cc printed out. I'm considering retuning it and purchasing it again when they offer that promotion again! That's if I don't get too excited and just use it already. I'm so antsy!
