Question Question about overage

Does CVS adjust the coupons down or no? I am going tomorrrow and there will be overage with the coupon I have and I need to know if they adjust or if I should be prepared for overage. Thanks!

Yeah, they do adjust.

Had a 6.99 ECB Q that I used today -- my total came to 6.64 and I just didn't want to deal with a filler -- adjusted it to 6.50.

Thank you I was thinking they normally adjust because when I did the Neosporin, the first coupon went through but the 2nd beeped and the cashier adjusted the price. I just hate drawing attention to myself so I wanted to make sure I was ready before I went.

Mine adjusts as well.

However, and I'm sure this is not for debate here and has been debated many times in the past too BUT.. I don't know how they can do that. They are reimbursed for full value of the coupon plus .08 per coupon. That doesn't seem quite fair to me that they should get the overage and I shouldn't. Ahh well.

Sorry to partially hijack your thread

This is YMMV too. My CVS does not adjust the Q's. I almost always get the overage.

The computer prompts the cashier to adjust manufacturer's coupons down if the item is less than the face value of the coupon. You will not receive overage.

The exception to this is when there's a B1G1 sale. Since the register system doesn't discount the sale items until the end of the transaction, the register will accept the full face value of the coupon (as long as the regular price of item is more than the coupon value.)

For instance, let's suppose there is a B1G1 Free on Neutrogena cosmetics and you have two $3 off coupons. You pick up two products that are $3.50 and hand the cashier your two $3.00 off coupons. Your purchase would ring up as $3.50 + $0.00 - $3.00 - $3.00 = -$2.50 (You'd have to have $2.50 worth of other items to cover the overage.)
