Did anyone get one yet? What coupons are in it? How much is the flu shot?

The blurb in the 9/6 and 9/13 ads for the $100 coupon booklet state: "*No purchase required. While supplies last."

However, as we were discussing in the 9/13 ad scan thread, it's not clear which CVS stores will actually have the $100 coupon booklet. The Flu shot ad along with the coupon booklet are shown with a MinuteClinic logo.

My area doesn't have a single MinuteClinic within 100 miles. But, checking the CVS website, there are Flu Shot clinics scheduled at a couple of my area stores in October.

Which stores will get the coupon booklet? Time will tell. No purchase is necessary so you don't need a flu shot to get one (don't let the pharmacy folks tell you otherwise. )

But Walgreens are advertising in my store as $24.99 in N. Cal, don't know if CVS will follow or not..

I don't 'do' flu shots for myself or my family, so if they try to require the shot I just won't be getting a booklet.

But for those of you that plan to get a flu shot anyway, check with your insurance b/c a lot of times they will cover getting a flu shot from a place like the Minute Clinic so you might not have to pay as much OOP for it.

Oh yes, Medicare pays entire price for flu shot, no co-pay. Other insurance should too. Is there a reason why some of you don't "do" flu shots? Just curious for your reasons, not being judgmental.

I don't do flu shots because a friend's 2 year old son died from a bad flu shot. As a general rule, we vaccinate, but we don't do that one because the flu is typically so treatable.

My husband, son, and I all got our flu shots this evening at the MinuteClinic at CVS (I'm in MN) and they were $30 although my insurance covers it so no OOP actually. No coupon booklet was offered to us though....

They are often ineffective if they have 'guessed' at the wrong strains to include in the vaccine. I've never had a flu shot and I've also never gotten the flu (knock on wood LOL) or else if I did have it it was not bad enough that I even considered calling it 'the flu'. Also like pp said it is normally not a very serious disease if you have a healthy immune system and it's treatable if it does hit you hard. I can totally understand other people wanting to get them (especially if they feel they are particularly at risk), it's just not for me. There is also a 'theory' that over-vaxing may be contributing to the rising levels of Alzheimers in our elderly - aluminum is found in the brains of autopsied Alzheimers patients and it is also present in many vaccines, including the flu shot which many older people get religiously.... (not saying vaxing is the only factor, b/c there are definitely other sources of aluminum and other heavy metals, but the whole 'straight into the bloodstream' thing freaks me out where aluminum/alzheimers is concerned)

Again, I totally get why many people choose to get the vax. I just do not feel that it's right for me.

We are old. I've gotten flu shots long before my wife started them. I used to get the flu quite often, and badly. Would miss a lot of work. Knock on wood, haven't gotten it since started taking the shots. We wash our hands religiously, and avoid crowds or unnecessary shopping. Our church no longer recommends hand shaking during Mass.

I cruised my local CVS that has a Minute Clinic. No coupon books were found at the pharmacy or near the Minute Clinic.

No offense to anyone but this thread is not for discussing our personal views regarding immunizations. Everyone has their own views on this subject. Can we please limit discussion to the coupon book only??

I sympathize with anyone who has lost a loved one regardless of the reason.

I got a booklet yesterday. I couldn't remember the exact name of the booklet so I asked the woman at the minute for the "flu shot coupon booklet." She got one for me and said that the flu shot is not connected to the coupon booklet. Then, as I was checking out a woman in front of me was using lots of q's so I mentioned to her that she could get the booklet as the minute clinic. When I got up to the cashier (my favorite) he gave me another booklet. I told him that I had already gotten one and he said that with as many q's as I use he thought I might need two

I get a flu shot every year but I get it where I work. There's about 50 strains of flu every year and the strain they vacinate for usually is only the worst one that is prevalent. The flu shot is no guarantee you won't get sick but it will protect you from at least one strain.
