| anyone running into snags trying to use school supplies rain checks?
I've had rotten luck trying to use these rainchecks, especially for the pencils. The cashiers say the event code is wrong or they say I can get the low price but not the ECB that was going on at that time. It seems like they don't want these rainchecks to be used or something.

I haven't had problems using them when I can find the product. I still have a handfull of rainchecks and can't find the school supplies at any of the CVS' I have been to - I think 4 in the last 2 days. Maybe call corp or try a different store Good Luck! |

No problems with rainchecks - everytime they write one for me, they reiterate that the rainchecks do not expire and that the ECBs will count as well. The problem I have had is that certain items for the 3 days sales are NEVER in stock! Oh well - I can wait until October or November. |

Last night I finally found the poly 2 pocket folders in a 24hr CVS. When I tried to use the raincheck, I noticed the cashier put them in as taxable items, instead of price modify. I asked him why, and he told me they got an instruction from the management that's the new way to do it now. They can no longer price modify for rain checks. Then after I paid, he manually printed the EB for me. That's very strange.... the reasons I suspect are possibly: ---To prevent EB offers double dipping? say, a while back they had the Buy $15 CVS school supplies Get $5EB, if people use school supplies rainchecks at the time, they'll be counted towards the current deal as well, theoretically. By putting in as taxable item, that'll prevent that from happening. ---To prevent people from using coupons on raincheck items? bc without ringing up the item's upc, the coupons (store or manu) have nothing to match up, therefore will beep. Did anyone experience the same thing? and what's your take on this? Sorry about OT, but since rainchecks are being discussed here, I thought I mentioned this one too! |

I haven't had any problem. They modify the price in the transaction and then force the ECBs afterwards. The poly folders were in the special school supply selection. I finally found them last week. The school boxes were B1B150 % and I was able to double dip on that one. I have a couple rainchecks left.

Some of the ECBs for the school supplies aren't scanning properly -- they won't scan at all or they actually ADD the amount of the ECB to your total instead of subtract it. I'm wondering if those are the same items that you're now trying to buy with your rainchecks and having the difficulty with the "wrong event code". Wish I could be remember which of my ECBs beeped and added to the total but I have such a good manager who took care of the problem right away that I really didn't pay that close attention to the individual ECBs. I do know that they were the school suppy ECBs because they were the $.99 to $1.98 ECB values. |

I have started cutting out the ads and attaching them to my rainchecks that way if an event code doesn't work or there is a confusion on limits/ecb amounts then I can refer the cashier to the ad. But so far I have had no trouble with the school supplies rcs.

I haven't gotten a raincheck for any of the items but I do know that some of my ECB's from the school supplies didn't want to go through and they were perfectly valid.

My manager said they normally don't give rain checks for seasonal items....so my best advice is if you really want the item--to hurry and get it when they get it back in stock. Also if you do it right after the last sale you are less likely to have any hassles because they still "remember" what the item was. Or you could keep copies and pics of all the ads with your rainchecks! hth!

I would second what a lot of people have said to try a diff location. YESTERDAY was the first day they had the Glade Sense and Sprays at my CVS, and I got them w/ the coupons and extra care bucks. They notate the ECB on the raincheck itself, and I always make sure everything is correct on the raincheck before leaving the store (I have so many from CVS it's not funn). They still didnt have the carefree liners in stock, so I don't even try on the 3 day sales!!!

I always forget that advice to cut out the picture from the ad. I'm going to try a different location today. Thanks everyone!

Great idea about cutting out the ad and attaching it to the raincheck - I will do that from now on.

ugh, I will definitely be doing that, it wasn't until the 3rd store that today that they'd let me use the pencil raincheck

Yep, I always cut the add and staple to the raincheck too. It makes it much easier so there is no confusion if the raincheck wasn't written out properly.

That's a great idea - thanks! I haven't had a hard time using the rainchecks - but finding the product has been difficult. In fact, I finally found the scissors -the 5 inch ones that were 2.99 last night - I didn't see where they had them hidden - were near the magazine area. I asked manager and she looked at the couple of rainchecks I had and took me right to them. Was very nice about it which I appriciated. Cashier last night was FABULOUS! Should get her schedule so I can go back in when she is there. This was the first positive experience I've had at CVS and look forward to more. |
