Hi All,
I want to ask a question that I hope is not inflammatory. My hubby and I were in the store last night buying some groceries and wine. I have now trained him to help me "coupon shop" (yay!). However, I saw a wine tag that looked promising and wanted to take it for another time. My hubby told me that it would be stealing to take the wine tag. He said that the intent from the manufacturer is that we buy the product right then and there. I felt bad and didn't take the tag. He said he thought it was fine to get coupons from the pads, etc, but that if it is on a product, I shouldn't.

Is that unethical to take the wine tag, planning to make the purchase later?

I really am a "do the right thing" kind of person so wanted to hear perspectives. Thanks, MaryJeanH

I take the winetags too. MY theory is they say right on it no wine purchase required so if I don't have to buy the wine to use the coupon then that means I can take the coupon without buying ...Also I always see a ton that are expired so I don't want them to go to waste.

Also lots of times I see the same wine tag on like 20 different bottles of wine (not all the same name brand). my thinking on this is that the store employees put them on the bottles and really don't have a clue which ones they are suppose to put it on. So really you aren't even buying the bottle that is giving the coupon (does this make sence).

In addition often times I find a stack on wine tags on he shelf (again I think lazy employees) so to me that is the same as tearpads...

What about when the stores tapes the tearpad coupons to the actual product? My stores do this often....regardless of where the coupon is in the store, the mfgs put them there for us to use, regardless of when.

You guys are so lucky to have wine tags. I live in NY and they don't have them. If they did I woudl say that I would take the tags to as long as I was going to use it. I say go back and get your wine tag when dh is not with you .........

I actually found some at a local grocery store last week!!!! I have never seen them before. I took several, they were $2 off deli cheese and $2 off chicken(no wine purchase necessary). I have the deli lady bag me up 1/3lb pkgs of cheese!!!

If I find a really good coupon inside one of the wine tags I will help myself to as many as I can get and try not to let anyone see me in action. I'm sure those little store security camera's have watched me in action, oh well. I loved the $1.00 off Weber marinade coupons I was finding on Sutter Home wine bottles and when Albertson's had them on sale for 10 for $10.00 I went on a hunt to different Albertson's stores to find more and more of those wine tags and I enough free Weber marinade to last me for 2 years I'm sure. That was one of the best deals I ever found on a wine tag. I do the rebate offers from Arbor wine too and just got a $4.00 rebate check in the mail yesterday and waiting for another $3.00 one in the mail now. I'm always watching for wine and beer tags in all the stores. Albertson's seems to have the best ones and I never seem to find any at other stores but I'm always looking for them anyway.

My stepson says, "If they didn't want me to take the coupons, they would put them inside the package" Not that they could do that with wine, but you get the picture.

I am sure that companies realize what is happening....
