Hello, I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope this is the correct forum. I also did a search but couldn't find any past posts...

I have seen coupons in the weekly Cub newspaper circular that state "Manufacturer Coupon" but also state "Redeemable at Cub." In reading the fine print, it does seem like a normal MQ, but the "Redeemable at Cub" thing makes me wonder. Has anyone used these types of coupons at other stores? Specifically, I'm wondering if Target will take them.

There are some good ones that pop up like this, for example in the 1/29 circular there is a .50 cent/1 Ragu pasta sauce coupon, and a .50 cents/1 Hellmans Mayo coupon. Cub is way out of my way but if I could use these at my Super Target it would be great...

You should be able to use them at Target just fine. Some other stores might not take them because they have a competitors logo on them, but I've never really had an issue since they are manufacturers coupons. The barcode will start with a #5 if it is a manufacturers coupon. Hope at helps!

I don't have a lot of places around me to shop at, and haven't tried this personally. I know Coborn's states directly in their policy they will not take mfg coupons from other stores ads. Target's policy is a little gray, " We can't accept coupons from other retailers..." so I could see a store saying this means MFG coupons in other store ads, even though it doesn't out and out say that and I personally think they are just talking about actual store coupons.

I do know that AFC members have used Cub MFG ad coupons at Target in the past, the biggest one I remember was one for Heinz ketchup (I think it was last summer), that people were able to use at Target and make out good on.

So, after all that, I guess I would say it is a YMMV type situation and they only thing to do is either ask at CS or just give it a try and see if it scans. A lot of the time, if it scans, they will take it.

DH was able to use the Hellman's one at Rainbow this week to capitalize on the Unilever deal.....

Quick update - I went to Target yesterday but darn it! forgot the Cub ad to show the CS desk & ask. I did go and talk to them though. There was only one guy, a young guy, and he seemed to understand what I was saying. His response was, those coupons are for the specific store because the manufacturer has a special deal worked out with that store to give the discount.

Now, I think I will take a hard copy in on a different date and ask again, because some of you have successfully used them. It may be a ymmv type of thing, which unfortunately seems to be the norm at Target these days!
