The Holiday cashier I had today told me that the Holiday gas promotion they have with Cub is going to be ending soon. She thought they agreed to stop printing them in November, and then Holiday wasn't going to accept them past December. She also said the expiration date doesn't matter so just use them up!

Geez! This is turning into a horrid day with all the Cub news. I'm starting to feel like all my perks are being taken away from my "job" as CEO of my domain. My hubby has a two hour commute to work (round trip) and those really saved us a lot of money. How awful if they were to take away expireds. I guess there would be no good reason to shop at %#!& Cub anymore -- oops did I say that out loud?

How do they plan to compete with Rainbow with them just bringing out their new fuel rewards program? I don't have a Rainbow, but I have heard it is a good deal with the gas. Wonder if they might just be changing to a different program to better compete with them?????

I like Rainbow's program better. I just saved $1.10 off a gallon or $22!

I guess I had better clean up all my paperwork and find all the high ones. I wonder if they will still accept competitor coupons?

When I was in Cub last night, they had a sign posted about this. The sign made it sound like they were discontinuing the program so they can lower food prices.

Maybe they are realizing their prices are a lot higher than other stores and instead of paying Holiday for the promotion, they are just going to lower prices overall. I'm sure in this economy, more people are taking the bus, carpooling, or even the lightrail; which results in less gas being used by people.

I know I don't use all my coupons, it's kind of a pain to go into the store when I have my 20 month old in his car seat. I have to pull him out, find the coupons, go inside and pay and then buckle him back in. Sometimes it's just easier to pay at the pump and pay an extra $1-3.

I don't think the fuel express stations will be affected. We just got one a few months ago at the Crystal Cub and I noticed the coupons say good only at Fuel Express. That bugged me because we have a Holiday right down from my house but now it makes sense. I am guessing that rolled it out that way since they are d/cing the Holiday program. We shall see!

I agree it sure stinks that Cub is doing away with gas coupons. My girlfriend is too lazy to use them so she saves them for me and I often save 50 - 60 cents per gallon. That is huge when you have been unemployed for a year with no job prospects in sight !!

Keep praying this lousy economy will turn around.

I am so switch to Rainbow. The only reason I go to Cub nowadays is b/c I can use ex. coupons there and it's a mile or 2 closer to my house. It's basically for last minute shopping. Rainbow has few good programs running together which makes it VERY competitive. I love the double coupon day, the $5 club reward is pretty cool and oh, it's really easy to add up gas saving as well. Not mention the free food bonus. Just more reasons to shop there. They do have some high price stuffs like seasoning which I get from across the street at Super Target. :P

Weird the article said the last coupons would be handed out on 11/6 but I went today and got a gas coupon. I also asked my cashier and she knew nothing of the cancellation.
