Fyi Prices are creeping up at Cub

I've been noticing this year that Cub's prices are creeping upward!!!! I price shopped the larger size Miracle Whip (not on sale) for Cub and Super Target. Cub's was $2.00 higher in price than Super Target. (BIG DIFFERENCE)

It makes it really hard to shop there for anything, but sale items!!!! and even then I still need coupons to make it a good deal!!!!

I am lucky to live in an area with lots of choices. I do hit Cub almost every week because there's usually at least one good special, like last week when I loaded up on a ton of Prego sauce, but I certainly do not do the bulk of my grocery shopping there anymore. It seems like almost everything costs a buck more than at Super Target, or a couple bucks like you noticed! Cub does have some decent specials, but going off your shopping list is very spendy. Milk last week was something like $2.79 a gallon at Cub, and it was under $2 a gallon at Target and even CVS. Irritating!

I agree as well that ST has better pricing on everyday items. I hit ST first and then Cub for their sale items and whatever I cannot buy at ST. I remember seeing that price check list on the local news about the basics and how much they cost at each place and I know Cub came in behind Target and WalMart, so they are definitely more expensive.

I agree, as well. Ice cream was and is way!!!! cheaper at Target than at Cub, other things too. I think Cub's sales are better, but regular prices, no way, Target is great.

I find on most anything that both stores carry Cub is at least .50 per item. Many times their sale price is the same as ST every day price. If you were to buy 20 items the higher cost really adds up. I only shop Cub sales & with coupons because of this.

it's too bad ST doesn't have a full size grocery add each week, so it would be easier to compare prices.

Interesting thread - I've not been a big ST shopper except for very specific deals/coupons/etc, so I wasn't aware of the difference.

What about produce? Cheaper than Cub, too??

I have noticed that with the price wars going on, I can shop Walmart, Cashwise, and Target and save more then doing all my shopping in Cub lately. Two years ago I could save the most by shopping only at Cub. But times are changing and we have to continue to hurt for the good deals.

I have noticed that overall with Cub, but I usually only buy items if I have a coupon for it and only shop sales and deals, so it doesn't affect me too much. Our Target though is pretty pricey compared to the Targets in the Twin Cities because we live in a smaller area. Now that is annoying.

I do most of my shopping at Super Target also because of lower prices as compared to Cub. I've been doing my shopping at ST for quite sometime now, anyways. And ever since doing the coupon on thing, I'll go to Cub,now, for special deals. When starting to shop at Cub again, I could not believe the prices on some of the things there!! I never knew about Rainbow's double coupons until a few months ago (I know I live under a rock), but I think they are even pricier. I would not shop there regularly. I haven't shopped there in years. The next stores are Byerly's and Lunds, which are ridiculous (the prices)! I went to Lund's the other day for something special and I could not believe the prices!!!!! I just about had an anxiety attack!!!! I cannot believe the prices people pay when they shop there!!!! It's like, "Why?"

I think Aldis has the cheapest produce with limited options, Super target has really good prices on dairy product (Milk is always $1.52 or $1.79) and baby stuffs (like diapers always less than 10 for jumbo). Rainbow is the best place for cereals and Yogurt (often FREE or MM). Walgreen and CVS often has MM on health care and beauty products (often FREE or MM).

Needless to say, I build my stock pile with Rainbow and Walgreen. Aldis is sort of out of way so I go there only when it's on my way to somewhere. I do the rest of the shopping at either Cub or Target.

I've been buying more at Aldi's for produce, dairy, and snack foods. It's nice to pop in, grab what I need and sail right out the door in a very short amount of time.

Snagging the good deals at Super Target and only hitting Cub when there is a super good deal. Sad, in years past I only shopped at Cub and typically had 75% or more savings.

Rainbow doubles strategizing makes my head hurt, regular prices there are HORRIBLE high .. thus I avoid Rainbow like the plague, which makes hubby happy as he doesn't like our local store.

Discovering the joys of RR at Wags, now that's FUN! And worth every minute of strategy, planning, and hunting down products.

ST almost always has great store coupons as well that can be stacked with mfr coupons, which I love. I am lucky enough to live near a liberal store that will let me use multiple Target q's in each transaction, too.
