I was so happy and excited yesterday when I walked into Cub and saw sign for butter 3 Day Sale! Quickly texted husband and said must get butter. Been waiting all summer for this sale... Last year stocked up and had butter through the winter. Got a Seal a Meal for $10 at a garage sale this summer and will be freezing butter for the winter. Told husband I am like a squirrel gathering nuts... and preparing for the winter.

Aw, I'm envious of your sealer! I would totally do the same. I freeze mine in bags but I'd love a good sealer thingie.

For those who super-stock during the three day sales, do you do multiple transactions, visit 20 Cubs, or what? I did get 4 pounds today because I went back for more Prego sauce so I just grabbed another couple butters.

Someday if I have ten children, I will make them all buy two pounds of butter during the 3 day sale and everyone will say, "Oh, THAT family!"

I have found the "press and seal" to be a wonderful way to freeze things without freezer burn. I wrap my meats in it as well as bagels. They last for months. I do have a seal-a-meal as well, but I actually find this to be easier.

Why can't you just store the butter in the freezer in the wrapping/box that it came in? I am new to this stockpiling/coupon thing.

You can, but I don't think it tastes as good after about 2 months, it's not bad, just not quite the same. If you are going to stock up for 3+ months, it tastes better if you at least put it in a ziploc.

Woohoo! I did this today, I was SOOO excited to see it... My cashier didn't bat an eye to letting me do a seperate transaction to get 2 more... I know they're not supposed to but I was doing a seperate tranny for the $25/10 deal so I just threw 2 butters on there also.

I wish I could go back, but hubby took my car and I have all the kids and no carseats!!

I agree. And I personally have a strong-smelling freezer (even with baking soda and regular, well, sorta-regular cleaning) because I freeze a lot of meats in garlicky marinades and such! So I really wrap the heck out of delicate flavored stuff like butter.
