| Expiring Coupons????
I am new to the frugal world of couponing and am LOVING it!!! I have a question? I have noticed on many blogs that give you suggestions on using coupons that they refer to coupons from old coupon booklets example: RP 9/12 Insert. I even saw one as early as 4/20. Would these coupons not be expired? So my question is if they are, can you still use exipired coupons? Any advice would be great. Thank You |

Insert coupons are varied in terms of expiration dates. Sometimes they expire one month after they come out in the paper, and others expire months from when they are in the paper. You just have to keep track of individual coupon dates. In terms of using them after expiration, some people are lucky and have a Cub Foods or a SuperTarget that will accept expired Q's. I think some Jewel's will, too, although it is always a YMMV issue with any store; what is okay to do one day may not be okay the next. If you have expired coupons but don't have a store in the area that will accept them, AFC'ers on military bases overseas can usually use Q's up to 6 months from their expiration, so you can mail them to an individual on base. It costs regular postage prices to mail to US bases overseas. There are lots of threads about that so it is pretty easy to find someone to mail them to.

Thank you so much for your help, it was much needed!! We live in the NC, so we have none of the stores that you listed, however we do have a local Grocery store that is a huge chain in the southeast and great at allowing to use coupons and double them. I think I'll try my hand there and see if they'll allow me to use expired coupons, if not I will look into sending them to the military bases. Thank you again so much for your help. Carrie |

Also, you can RAOK or try selling them through the Expired coupon Forum. Since many of us can use expireds up to 3 months, and some as much as 5 months, you might be able to trade for some non-expireds that you want. Just don't be fooled by the date on the insert. I have some May 2009 inserts that still have coupons that do not expire until the end of December, so each one is different in their expiration date. I just cut a coupon from last weeks paper that doesn't expire until 2012! If mailing them overseas to military, they prefer them not to be more than a few months expired, as by the time they get to them and get sorted, they need time to use them as well. Good luck on your continued couponing!
