I am going to my daughters first frade class next week to do a craft in her class before halloween. It can not be halloween themed because there are some students in her class that do not celebrate. I have looked for hours on the computer for a craft to do and not find one. I need something that is inexpensive, doesn't really need drying time and something that probally doesn't take longer than around 30 minutes. I don't really have any leaves around me so i can't do nothing with leaves. I am trying to find something fall themed. Any suggestions? I am in desperate need of ideas! Thanks!

What about pinecone bird feeders? Either with peanut butter ot with fat and then rolled in bird seed. I will keep thinking. That is just the first thing I though of. |

You could make play doh? Or the "goo" whatever it is called.. does it have to be something that they can hang on the wall? or would play doh even work? You could make cookies and have them decorate it? I really don't know.. ... I tried.

Take a cheap paper plate and cut out the center so you have about a 2 inch ring left. Have the kids trace their hands and cut out the hand shapes on orange, brown, yellow, construction paper. Glue the hands around the edge with the fingers pointing up so it creates a fall wreath. They can decorate it is there is time.

Paper bag puppets. Use a lunch sack and have them decorate it so the fold is the mouth. The puppet can be tied in to what ever they are learning about. We used ours as spelling helpers. The puppets would spell the words for that week.

We did something once with the paper plate idea but we used fall leave cut outs to glue on top and then it looked like a pretty fall wreath....same idea as tracing/cutting out their hands which is probably cuter! |

not halloweenish but i am 30 and i still have a project i made in 1st grade and my mom doesn't save anything but she saved this...we bent a wire hanger into a circle and cut garbage bags into strips and knoted them aroudn the hanger to look like a wreath and put a huge bow on it. i put glitter on mine...it is very fabulous...my kids are 5 and 2 and i bought a kit for a dollar a michaels or ac moore that was the foam stickers..a witch, a pumpkin, a ghost..then i bought a pack of foam at the dollar store and used the original as a pattern and cut the same shapes for my other daughter. they have tons of cute things there too...my kids did an american girl craft at michaels that was punch out papers and little sticky squares..double sided stickey..and made cute picture frames...hth

Last year a friend of mine thought it would be nice to make a picture frame for fall with her sons class. She called the teacher and told her the idea, went to the school and took a few group class photos, went to get them developed, picked the best one and had enough copies for the whole class. They made picture frames out of fall colored construction paper, and they decorated around the frame with leaves. You could always precut leaves out of different color construction paper and the kids can just glue them on. You can even cut out pumpkins and have them put happy harvest or fall greetings, that way it's not halloween theme.

| Call around to Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Wal-mart or Dollar Tree may even have them. I know I saw them in stores last year, haven't had time to go to decor dept.'s lately.

If you have alot of empty clorox/lysol wipes containers let them decorate them and they can be used to store and dispense the plastic shopping bags.
