Question Buying a new printer

What makes the most sense?

I have an all in one printer that works just fine - older but still works as it should, but I use XP. We also have a laptop and another pc that both use vista. Now, I am the only one who can use this printer as it doesn't work with vista.

Question for you all is should I buy a new wireless all in one printer that works with all three or should I buy a cheaper wireless printer for the other 2 that works with vista?

I am thinking the main reason would be to print more q's and does having 2 printers make sense when you figure the cost of ink or would it be more cost effective just to get the new wireless all in one to replace what I have.

i have two computers, one laptop (DH) and my desktop. I had a lexmark, but he had Vista on his laptop and it was HORRID - did not get along, was not compatible.

So.....I went out and got a wireless HP 4680, originally 130 at staples, instant rebate of 30, then had a gift card in the mail for 10.00 off a purch of 75 or more, so I got it for 90 including tax.

I have a coupon from Staples - 25.00 off of a purchase of 50 or more, you can have it if you want My wireless works great now with both pc's!

What would make the most sense would be to go to the printer manufacturers website and download a updated driver that works with your printer on vista and download that onto the 2 vista printers. HTH

I have already been in contact with HP and there is no download for my particular printer - maybe it's too old.

if you are mainly printing Qs, I would get the cheapest one that will work with the Vista pcs

you don't need wireless printer to print from laptop, if you have a home network
just add network printer on the laptop and it will print, as long as the pc printer is actually connected to is on

Wow - I did not know that! (It isn't my laptop so I feel better saying I didn't know that!)

I think you just solved my dilemma! Now I should probably wait till black friday to find the best deal. I have been missing out on printing all those extra q's for so long I get excited thinking about it - !

I just bought a wireless Kodak yesterday. It was a great deal. I was $149 with a $50 credit for a old trade in. I had Best Buy Reward Zone credits that I applied and I end up getting it for $85. Got it home, unpacked it and it was defective!! Said paper jam and I had not even put paper in it yet. Took it back today and Best Buy let me return it and buy a much nicer HP that was MSRP $199. They let me keep the $50 trade in allowance. Woo Hoo. New HP printer nice. It will even print from my iPhone.

We just got a new HP wireless all in one and absolutely LOVE IT! We have a home Laptop and I also occasionally work from home on my work laptop. We are also getting DD one for Christmas through my works buy back program so a new faster printer was definatly needed. We got a new HP from Office Depot and got it for a steal. It was regularly 250.00 on sale for 150.00 then they also had the deal where they buy old printers and gave us an additional 50.00 dollars for it. DH went to get it and there were none left other than one that was in the back and had been opened so they gave him an additional 10% off. Got it for less than a 100.00 dollars!! Got it home though and it was missing pieces. Called around and found another Office Depot that had it and he ran over to exchange it they gave us the same deal including the 10% so we ended up getting a brand new unopened one for less than 100.00!! It works GREAT!!! and stays hidden in our pantry where noone has to see it.

So when I am looking at new printers, under connectivy specs does it need to say networking available or wireless capability? I don't want to buy one and have to return it because I bought the wrong one. I think I am leaning now towards getting one that works on all 3 - pc with xp, pc with vista and laptop with vista.
