I don't know that this is the place to post it...but I have googled my flipping brain out and can't find ANYTHING!!! I have a whirlpool duet front load washer that WILL NOT turn on for the life of me!!! The door is not locked, so I know it isn't the locking mechanism...thank goodness (crazy expensive part) The machine IS getting power...I can still lock the control panel and the light turns on. The control on button wont work...I don't know if that is the only button not working, as I cant get the machine to turn on. The machine acted funny for a while, but I could just re-close the door or wiggle the basket and it would turn on. I opened the machine to unlock the door manually, but it was not locked. I unplugged and re-plugged in the machine, reset the breakers...I don't know what else to do. Does ANYONE have a hubby or know someone that works on these stupid things that could ask them for me?? I'd hate to have to come up with the money to have a repair man come out just to say "oh i have to order the part..." then come back again to install a part that I could probably get cheaper if I buy it on my own...I just don't have the money to do that! PLEASE someone help!! Last edited by saragillman; 09-30-2009 at 02:37 PM. |

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it could be the mother board. My step sister bought one and had it for a few months and it went crazy. It started flashing all kinds of codes at her and telling her. The repair man told her that there was no hot water hooked up. She said I know that, it hasn't been since I've had it. Anyway, come to find out her mother board was fried. I hope yours is a simpler fix than that though. Still wouldnt hurt to have someone look at it. Is it still under warranty?

How long have you had the washer, perhaps it is still under warranty? If you have had it less than a year it probably IS. Google the brand and model number of your machine and you MAY find the repair manual online to help you self-diagnose. Other than that, really, you have little choice other than to contact Whirlpool for a repair: https://www.whirlpool.com/service/se...ng=en&brand=WP There is a single charge quoted at the time of the appointment for the service call, which includes a diagnosis. If additional labor or parts are needed they generally quote that at the time of the diagnosis. Good luck.

Ours did the same thing, and they had to replace the motherboard. We had it about 4 months before it started acting like that! Thank goodness it was under warranty! Call Whirlpool, and if its still under warranty they will send someone to fix it! Good luck!!

Mine did this one time because I accidentally locked the keys. I had no idea why it wouldn't start, and it did not indicate that the keys were locked. I can't remember how I fixed the problem, but it was super easy and I found the solution in the owner's manual. Good luck! |

This is why I love this site. My washing machine is just like one of my kids. I cherish it. I have almost paid for my machine over but before I put the cash into purchasing another I plan to have mine diagnosed or either do it myself. I have had both situations motherboard fried, locking mechanism broke etc. I have even fixed it myself. Have a person out for about $65. Find out what is wrong with it, it does sound simple and call a parts company. Buy the part and fix it yourself. There is always a way to find out a how to. The company I deal with for parts with is good. I don't have the paper with me today but pm me to remind me to send it to you. In the meantime someone on this site will help you. I can't come to work without checking Full Cup. Good Luck

WOOT! Three days of googling and I finally figured it out!!!! Crazy that i found it too!! uncommon problem i guess!! SOMEHOW one of the wires got out of it's holder and was laying on top of the basket thing...the machine got off balance and split the wire!! we just spliced the wire back together, got it back in its holder and she works great again!!! |
