I am running out of places to store my stockpile! I have an outside porch but I am not sure if that would be a good place to store certain things as i live in New Hampshire and in the winter it can get very cold if not freezing out there. Has anyone else run into this? Any input would be welcome! TIA

Hmmm. No advice as to cold weather storage, sorry. I keep my stuff in places I normally don't think of as being "storage space". This includes under the beds and couches/chairs, on top of the cabinets (cereal is perfect there!) and other little crevasses. You'd be amazed how much storage space there is once you get creative. Good luck!

| Please forgive me if I comment out of line but Give it away!!
Everyday I try to re-evaluate what I really need vs. what I can afford vs. what I can give away without my family going with or not getting too upset. If not anything else AFC has taught me that my cup can be overflowing enough to give it away. I would never want anything to get too stale or old. Anyway, another deal will come buy again next week. Coupon shopping can be very addictive and easy to get out of hand. I don't think it's good to hoard. If you have more that 3 or 4 of something that you don't run through very quickly, you should probably give it away. I give to my kids, my brothers and sister (and their familes), mine and my husbands friends..etc. Well..you might say I was buying enough to feed everyone else? I feel if I get it cheap enough so what? My husband and I are retired (I was laid off), we don't have anything financially substantial. We still pay a house note and have medical bills and two college kids in the house. They work, so it helps. At publix the other night, I spent my normal 1 and 1/2 hours...spent $70, saved a ton. They were closing, the parking lot was empty, and we don't live in the safest of areas, especially at night. My husband and I were loading and getting into the car, when a car zoomed by. A guy yelled asking if they were closed. He looked kinda frantic. I said yes. My husband said don't talk too much. Be careful. The guy stopped and got out of his car. He said he was reaching into his back pocket to show us where he was living. He told us that he was an Iraqi war vet on disability. He said his wife and son were at this intown suites place and indicated that they were hungry and his check had not come yet and did not know what to do. He said he was out of gas and trying to get to the store to get his wife a feminine product and ask the manager for some food, as he, his wife and son were hungry. This guy also said he had post traumatic stress disorder. He said his pastor told him he had too much pride and that he didn't receive because he didn't ask. My spirit lead me to believe him, so I said: "Harry, pop the trunk". We gave him most of it. I had bought the kotex deal for my girls, so his need was met there. One thing I knew....we had been blessed beyond measure via AFC shopping techniques and that it wouldn't hurt us to give this guy what we just bought. My husband told him to follow us to a gas station (well lit) and filled his car $20 worth. He seemed very relieved, yet in disbelief. It really didn't matter to us whether he was legit or not, I figured that was between God and him. I told him God does answer and that I will give to him in order to be blessed more. You just never know when God sends a messenger to test us or use us in giving back to Him. This was a lesson we all benefited from. Sorry so wordy.. |
