I am new to AFC and was wondering how many sunday papers do people purchase? I don't want to go overboard but I don't not want to have enough either. Any tips for a new person would be appreciated.

I'm a newbie too, but I've been buying 2 each week. This works well for me because if there are really good deals I'll use both q's (and more if I can find them elsewhere.) The ones I don't need I save for trades here, or take to work for others to use. So far it's paying off. I've been saving between $30-$40 a week with q's and I know I'll keep getting better at it with time. You will too!

I have a sub to the Sunday paper only and after I check the q's, sometimes I go pick up 1-2 more.

On Fridays I check the coupon clippers calendar and see what coupons are going to be in the paper that week. Some weeks I only get 2 papers, other weeks I might get 10-15 papers if there are lots of good coupons.

I usually buy 3 on Sunday, but my local corner store saves all the inserts for me from the papers that didn't sell and I pick those up on Monday so I usually end up with about 20-25

I've been told you should get one paper for as many people you have in your household. I have 5 people but I just buy 4.

I buy 2 to 5. A friend gives me any extra inserts from her paper route on Monday. So I usually end up with anywhere between 10 to 30 of each insert.

i have 3 of us, plus one on the way.....i usually get the local sunday for free, i take both my neighbors (they dont use), and my MIL's......then I buy the 2.00 one at Wags and that usually does it.....if there are good q's i'll buy 3 extra

depends on the week. If there are really good coupons, I will buy more, but usually I buy 2. But I also get extra inserts from family and friends.

Mainly I only buy one paper, but I get inserts from about 3-4 other people.
There are weeks where the coupons are so good, that I will buy a few extra, but for me that is enough.

I do this too - and I'm also on two "trains" which helps me get more of the specific coupons I'm looking for.

I think the right answer depends on your needs.

Are you trying to feed your family for less, or create a major stockpile (and possibly create a business by reselling items you got for free)? Also, how much free time do you have on your hands? Do you need to save as much as possible in your 2 free hours per week, or do you have limitless time to spend cutting coupons and shuttling from store to store searching out the best deals and bargains?

I buy one paper, Sunday subscription only. I trade those coupons I don't need with people on AFC, asking for more of the coupons I do need. I also trade regularly with one neighbor.

I go shopping once a week for 2 hours, at one store. Since joining AFC, I now save 25% ($50) every week at Target when I buy my family's groceries. That's up from an average of $15 per week using just my own coupons, prior to joining AFC.

For us, it is the difference between breaking even on our paychecks, vs. now saving $200 per month into the bank.

I buy between 2 & 6 papers a week and dumpster dive for extra inserts beyond that.

It's also a good thing to note, especially for those newer members, Qs are regional and more often than not, the paper with the widest circulation in your area is going to be the one with the most thorough Q inserts. So, here in Michigan, the best Qs are in the Detroit paper but there are still some that only show up in the smaller papers as well.

It was an eye-opener the first week I bought 1 of my local papers and 1 metro paper and clipped them side by side. The stack of Qs that were in the metro paper that weren't in my local paper was twice as tall as the stack of the Qs that matched in both. And the metro paper costs me 25 cents less.

So, don't just shop around for products, shop around the papers too.

I was buying several but found for us that if I just pick up 1 or 2 when I shop on Sunday (if there's enough Q's in them that week) is enough for me..plus I get some inserts from one of my WAGS cashiers who saves them for me if theres any left.
Then I find the deals I want that week and trade or purchase just the Q's I need.

I buy one paper.. but I buy 10 of each insert from a laday that works at the newspaper for .25 each. Saves me between almost $1.50 a paper. I also check the garbage bins by our paper stands and inside the post office. As well as check starbucks and other coffee shops. People at my work end up giving them to me too. I know alot of people go through recycling bins (paper ones) and what not for extra inserts. See if your local gas stations will save them or other stores that sell them. Sometimes they only have to give the cover page back to the newspaper to get reimbursed for the ones that didn't sell. If so, they can save you the insersts.

Depends on the coupons on the amount I buy.

Just an FYI you might want to check out your local dollar store for papers as well it saves me $1 a paper by going there.

I buy 1 And If they are GOOD I call My Local paper Route Guy and Get at least 8 more for FREE.
Will propbibly be getting more Soo though seeing how i am saving soo much and Getting tons of FREE stuff. My guy wants me to Get him certin Products an d he will give me MORE inserts :-)

In my town we get one free on Wednesday's with inserts it's a promotional deal. On that day I get at leased two of my neighbors also. Then on Sunday I buy four papers. This gives me at least seven free items a month and many more if really looking. It worked out well for me for the double Harris Teeter we had last week spent ten percent of what I saved.

I buy 1, and get 3-6 more by walking the neighborhood on Sunday night when the recycling bins are at the curb.
