As a soon to become new grampa (blush) I need to bone up on baby stuff again. Can anyone give me some pointers on Diapers and such ? My son's wife is due in mid Aug, and I would like to try & help them out. They live in Huntington WV, so if someone from that area is listening, can you give me an idea on what stores are over there and what kind of deals might be out there so I can help them out ? The main thing will be diapers to start as they told me they plan on breast feeding to start.![]() MUCH THANKS !!!! steve ![]() ![]() ![]() "God put me on this Earth to take pictures, and I'm not ready to be developed yet ! probably the best thing you can do from so far away is send them the baby Q's my grandbaby is 4 hrs away and we see her once/month; I buy whatever is on special that month and take it up there...they go through diapers, wipes and later formula, food, etc Congratulations! I used to hear that being grandparent was better than parent and in a lot of ways, it's true!

Watch for target baby coupons because you can double them up with manufacture. You can often get Johnson and Johnson as well as gerber for little to nothing with prinatbel coupons. ALso call all the manufactures and ask for coupons and sample. FOrmula exspecially that is one of the most expensive. Beachnut will also send you freebies. |

Congratulations!!! I have to agree with all of the previous posts (especiallly the breastfeeding mommas), but as far as diapers I'd also watch Kroger. They put the Pampers and Huggies on Manager's Special quite often - 64-82 count boxes (at least for size 4) for $9.99 and then use coupons. If they aren't particular about the brand of diapers, I like the Kroger diapers - the usual price is $6.99, but they go on sale a lot for $5.99 and you can print $3 coupons from the Kroger website - $2.99 a package and my son didn't leak. Also, at Kroger you can load Huggies coupons onto your Kroger card through shortcuts.com and cellfire.com and combine them with the paper manufacturer's coupons...$8.99/$9.99 -$1.50 (shortcuts) -$1.50 MFQ = $5.99/$6.99. My parents live 15 hours from me and my dad always sends books and such to my kids (and I love it), but he also sends little notes to me (even cards with a flower drawn on it) and that always makes me feel special. |

I just wanted to congratulate you on becoming a new grandpa. I LOVE being a grandma (but it did make me start to feel older). Walgreen's is going to have their diapers B1G1 the week of the 14th, so 2 packs for $8.99, and if you can you get it, there are $2 off per pack coupons out there, ask at the pharmacy for the pharmacy saver program or post on AFC for a trade, so that would make is $4.99 for 2 packs of diapers!!!! Also, if they are formula feeding, BJs brand formula is great, similar to the Enfamil yellow can and it is much more affordable, a huge can is only $19.99 and lasts about 2 weeks, and they often have $2-4 off coupons in their coupon booklet that comes to the mail for members. It is made by a company in Vermont, so its safe to use and just as good as the name brands according to my pediatrician.

I just wanted to say Congrats!! My parents and my in-laws both live 14 hours away so they help when they can. The best thing anyone did for us was buying clothes in bigger sizes, I would say 6 months and larger. I got a ton of stuff at baby showers that was all newborn and 3 months, well needless to say a few months after my daughter was born i was scrambling for clothes that fit her. Oh and baby wipes you can never have enough baby wipes!!

Congrats--what a lucky family to have you helping out! I'm a mom of 2 boys under 2, and I would recommend going to the Huggies, Pampers, and Target websites and signing yourself and your daughter-in-law up for coupons & newsletters via snail mail & e-mail. I get a lot of great coupons from Huggies this way. Then I watch the sales at Target, Walgreens & CVS. Since you don't live close to them, send them the coupons & keep them up to date on where the deals are. Also, I have found great deals on very nice, gently-used clothing by going to childrens resale shops--such a great value compared to new clothing. Additionally, two of my favorite stores for inexpensive books, shoes & toys are ROSS and Marshall's. Not sure if those are in OH or WV, but check it out. Enjoy your new grandbaby!

Congrats to you! We moved from Huntington two years ago but I thought I'd let you know what stores were in the area. They have a Target, Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens, RITE AID and a CVS - I think those are the majors. Something you may want to do is sign up for all the baby related coupons that a new mother would sign up at such as the Luvs website, Papmers Website, Huggies website, etc then you can pass on coupons to her (or use them yourself to buy the stuff she needs). HTH!

CVS is having an incredible sale on Pampers. For some reason the extra care bucks have not been spitting out but I have just been showing the store manager the print out from their website and they have been pushing the ECB's through. Here is the deal- Pampers So the 1st pack is $8.99 (less $1 p &g coupon yesterday)= $7.99 and you get $5 ecb 2nd pack $8.99- $1Q-$5 ecb= $2.99 Easrn another $5 3rd pack $8.99- $1Q-$5ecb= $2.99 Earn another $5 At the end of 3 packs with $1 coupons you are at $13.97 and have $5 ecb I had all $2 coupons so they were a total of $10.97! There is no limit listed (and honestly no way it seems for them to keep track because they need to push them though) It is their own deal, on their own website! Go to CVS.com and push the baby tab and you will see it on the far right side. Super cheap Pampers! |
