What sorts of things do you have for sale? Health/Beauty items? Or regular garage sale type stuff... clothes, furniture, kids toys etc...

try to browse the garage sale forums and you may find threads there where we have discussed our yard sale prices on both stockpile items and regular yard sale items. Good luck on your sale! I'm almost done yard selling since I started at the first sign of spring. Its getting hot and humid here now

Tools and lawn mowers is a big seller for the men. All kinds of family clothes, toys, housewares, statues, books, bicycles, VCR & CD tapes, game systems tapes, Music Cd's,baby stuff etc. You could also have drink stand to attract those hot & thirsty customers. My son sold lemonade at one yard sale & soda cans at another yard sale.

I had a sale 2 weeks ago and I couldn't believe how fast furniture sold. I didn't price anything over $20 and stuff flew off my driveway. I also believe in low-price stuff = high-volume sales...if you price stuff cheap, people will buy it. Garage-salers are frugal; they don't want to pay $5 for a pair of jeans. Another popular "men's" category....hunting or fishing items. My hubby put out a tree stand and it was gone within an hour. |

I try and go with this rule of thumb. If it is clothing and is used, 90% off the original price. So if you paid $20 for a pair of children's jeans and they are still in good condition price them at $2.00. I agree, no one will pay $5 for a pair of used jeans until they are really, really expensive jeans. For items that are new, in the box, with tags, etc. you can go as far as 50% off the original store price. If you have a brand new box of diapers let's say that sell for $20 at the store regularly (not that you probably paid that much) you can mark them $10 and they will go. Like I said, these are just some rules I try and go by, but everyone has their own way of pricing things. You have to decide if you really want to sell the stuff, you need to mark them in a way that people will want to buy them. Good luck and make lots of money!!!
