| Save every coupon? or just what you use
After going through this site I see so many bargains and things I could get for free, even though I don't use those items. But hey I might like them if I try them. So the question is do you cut every coupon in case one day there is a great sale or just cut what you always use. I realize I will be overwhelmed with coupons but then I will have to come up with a system! |

Currently, I'm clipping everything I use or might use (if the price is right) and things I'd never use, like baby items, I pass on to someone else. I've never used Green Giant boxed veggies in sauce because they have been way too expensive (IMHO), but with the coupon in the Sunday paper, they came down to the same price as canned. We tried them and really liked them! We ended up having a nice treat that we wouldn't have had before if I just clipped what I used |

I clip what I will use and put those coupons in my small file. I clip the rest of the coupons and sort them into envelopes based on different categories (frozen, paper/pets, cleaning, etc). I use those extra coupons in trains and trades, though many times I find out about deals that I can use those coupons for, even though I normally wouldn't have used them. That is how we ended up with excedrin, too much ky, glade plug-ins, French's mustard, etc. You never really know when a coupon come in handy. ![]() I also try to trade as many of the current week's coupons that I know I won't use. That way, when I clip them (usually the Sat. after the week they come out), I won't have as many to clip and file.

I keep everything I dont use in a shoe box, I have a binder withall the ones I DO use. I have had to look in that box so many times, for instance, I don't use Excedrine but when you can get it free...on sale for $1.99 and the coupon is $2.00 off, I get it, I donate those items to the food bank or give it to friends, thats just an example of one, Loreal for kids shampoo is another, I have gotten so much for free but my kids are older and so I give it away....so ALWAYS keep everything, you can also use the ones you dont want to trade for the ones you do.

At the moment, I just cut the coupons I would need.. mostly baby Qs, beauty & food. I keep them in cheap photo albums (4x6) so I could put one in my diaper bag. The rest, I just pile them in a box until its needed. I recently joined a coupon train (my first) and this is a great way to swap Qs & give away Qs you don't usually need. |

I only clip what I can use. I have to be really careful because I am an impulse shopper. My budget does not allow purchases that I don't NEED. Plus, I am trying to declutter, so I am trying not to buy new stuff. If I don't need the coupon and its $1 or over, I clip it to trade for something I need.

I pretty much do as the others do, cut all of them, file what I need in a binder, and I put all unused in little tin bucket. I use the ones I don't need to trade and for trains. I love doing trains!

I'm stuck in a rut. I clip every coupon every week and I get anywhere from 10 to 50 inserts, so this is extremely time consuming. I organize alphabetically because this works best for me. I have 2 sets of alphabet white envies~one for food, one for non-food. I take out anything that I know I will definitely use and put it in an envelope in my purse or work bag. This is stuff I always buy. My mom is wonderful about sorting my inserts. She pulls them all apart for me and stacks them and even cuts them sometimes! I wish I could just cut what I know I will use, but YOU NEVER KNOW when the next sale is going to be and you can get it for FREE or cheap. I think LyndaSLP files hers by date. That appeals to me, but I'm not sure if it would work or not with my one track mind. Interesting post. Nice to read how others do it.

It is very time consuming! Every week, I get the inserts from 12 papers. I was cutting and sorting every week, but that took too much time. Now, once a week, I seperate the pages and sort them into piles ready to cut. I cut and file every other week or whenever time allows. Like some other AFCers, I have binders and a shoe box. I keep most coupons. I only toss/donate the coupons that I know are too expensive to buy and if no one I know uses the product. Plus, I have some very nice friends here at AFC who usually can spot me if I get in a bind.

I also get a lot of papers...I automatically save 2 of each insert and file them. then the Q's that I want I cut, those that I dont want..I cut and set aside for trades, roaks...etc

I get a lot of papers and if it is an items I absolutely won't use, I pass it on to others. If it is something I would get if it was free or dirt cheap.. I will keep atleast 2.

I save mostly what I can use but like a lot of others, might save a good coupon on something I usually don't use if I thought I could get it free or ver cheap. I have 2 papers to sort through but because they are not identicle I still cut them one by one.

I just clip what I think I might use. If I know I will never use it or buy it by the time it expires, I don't clip it. And now we are trying to eat healthier and use all-natural cleaning products (they work better and are better for the environment for about the same price.. but really no coupons ) so I find I'm cutting even less.. but I still like to save on beauty products and some groceries

I cut it ALL! I saw a video posted about opening each insert to the same page, stapling them together and cutting. My husband and I spent about an hour sorting, stapling and cutting into 11 of each insert (P&G, Redplum, Smartsource). I sifted through them afterwards, filed what I always want on hand into my binder, and threw the rest into a trading bin. My exta's arent sorted, but they are easy to sift through because all like Q's are stapled together. Ive only been doing this Q thing for about 2 weeks, but by the looks of it you'de think Ive been collecting them for YEARS! |

I save everything! You never know who might be searching for coupons you don't need. THe coupons are regional, so some regions get better coupons than others. I always seem to get $.25 off of fabric softener, but others get $1.00 off. Cheese coupons are rare here, but when I buy the Omaha, NE paper, they always have cheese and other dairy coupons. |

I'm really new to this and this is what I've been doing b/c it's pretty overwhelmng: clip what I use you may use and file in categories. In another folder I have coupons I would ONLY buy (to donate most likely) if it's really cheap at CVS or free- I've been cutting only the ones that are over a $1 for this folder. All others I've been RAOKing on this site or throwing out. HTH |
