What happens if I return an item I used a coupon for? Do they take off the coupon amount and I just lose the coupon or do they refund the whole amount of the item?

I returned with receipt banana boat n wet wipes at shop rite because I did not get the checkout coupon. Not only dud they give me the before coupon price back they gave it back in cash

I returned zertec to target because 1 of the 4 I bought had no coupon attached and I was positive I gave 1 coupon per zertec the zertec rang up 54¢ not $4.54... I ended up returning it without a receipt and got a store credit gift card.

In my experience it varies greatly from store to store what they will do for you. In my experience it doesn't hurt to try, if the return isn't working in your favor just tell them to forget it, or explain why your returning it and see if they can do it without a receipt. (target, walmart, kmart, kohls,etc have a yearly limit, 365 days not jan1st)

It depends on the store. Rite Aid has changed its policy to refund what you paid after coupon AND you don't get the coupon back. For other stores ymmv.

I don't have a Rite Aid, but generally, for MFG coupons you get what you paid plus the MFG coupon amount back unless you just checked out and they can somehow give you back the coupon. If they turn the coupon in, they get the money from that plus the money you don't get back if they didn't. For Target, they give you back what you paid plus MFG coupons, but not Target store coupons. So if you bought product X that was $5.00 and you used a $1.50 off MFG coupon and a $1.00 off Target coupon you would receive back $4.00 if you returned product X ($5 minus the $1 store coupon).

It'd be nice if all cashiers understood the policies as well as folks here. I was told the other day that I couldn't get full price because I had used a MQ.
