wow, ideas I didn't think of before, I was bummed bc my sil that got me started said she dumpster dives too but we all get personal recycle cans here so there are none anywhere near where I live and I wondered what I can do vs buying more papers! I can't see doing that!

I put my own personal "recycle" bin by our trash can and my neighbors put their papers in there. We get a free local paper on Wednesday with the coupons. I also take a walk and ask the people if they're outside for the Qs in their yard. Usually the paper sits there for days and they don't even realize they have a paper. They're glad I am helping "clean up". Gotta catch the guy who takes our trashcans out before he throws any papers away. He's so quick I never see him

I buy 2 double early editions on Saturday during my lunch break. I take out the inserts and leave the 3 extra (keep one for myself) papers at work for the guys to read / take home. Just a side note but when I did this yesterday, I actually had a few Q's with me that gave overage so my papers cost 9.10 instead of 10.00. Every little bit...

I went to the local BP and asked the manager if I could have the leftover inserts. It's a 24 hour location so I have to go at midnight, but I scored 7 last Sunday! I also went to one of the newspaper retriever bins and got about 4 older ones, it wasn't like dumpster diving, it was very clean, just paper. I also went to the 7/11 on monday and used my gopher grabber to get 7 more! Fortunately here the circulars come in a plastic bag so they're easy to grab.

ok can someone tell me what a DH is and explain the whole dumpster diving thing? A lot of people talk about it - but do I just go to the recycling bins where you can dump paper and plastic and just jump in? they are closed dumpsters though with just the whole in the side? Do I need my husband to throw me in and bring me a ladder to fetch me when done? help!

As far as "Dumpster Diving" goes I do believe some people get into the trash dumpsters to look for Sunday Qs. I used the website Paper Retriever - Home to find a paper only dumpster near me, they have a window on each side that I stood and and riffled through the papers. Yes if you had a ladder, or someone to help you, you could jump inside to search. HTH! |

my paper sells the sunday paper throughout the wk for .50 a copy, we have 2 different papers and the other is $2 so i just started getting 4 copies for the same as 1 would cost! i also get my grandma's inserts and now my uncles and kids' babysitter said i could have theirs... i just ask if i see someone that has the paper... (not so keen on the 'stealing' inserts cuz not only r u taking them from us fellow couponers but u also r technically stealing from stores cuz the q's u use r stolen... so please be kind to the other buyers... ) |

Check your local library on Monday morning. Our library has an assortment of state newspapers, which are all in tact on Monday morning. They are glad to have us take the coupons....less for them to recycle!

Hey ladies, I'm new here but my sister has been doing this for some time. Where we live there is a Spanish version of our newspaper that gets released 1 day early. It has all the same coupons that the English Sunday paper has, well almost all. Anyway, this paper is FREEEEEE, yay. My husband drove me around yesterday and I got 8 free newspapers. I bought 2 of the regular Sunday paper for the few extra coupons it had. In total I made out with 10 newspapers.

Find a student who delivers paper and offer him an incentive to bring you all his left overs or to retrieve the inserts for you

| Newspaper guy at Kroger
I buddied up with the paper guy at Kroger I have been going to for years. Very nice man and we always chit chat but i have never bought a paper because we have them delivered. Last week I bought one and we made a deal. One that i would buy 1 paper each week take coupons out that way he could resell it (of course to someone that doesn't use coupons) or have an extra in case someone was missing a specific part of the paper. and that he would give me his excess coupons. He also said he would ask his regular customers if they used coupons and if they didn't would see if he could get them for me. Last week he gave me 3 inserts from the previous week, so when i go today we shall see. |

I live in a condo and I usually score plenty of Red Plum inserts (we get them in the mail on Tuesdays here) I just dive into the wastcan in the mail room and I can usually get at least 15 inserts. I can't use all of them so if anyone is interested I will trade for stamps, wishlist q's or gift cards. Let me know.... |

I give my friends and family some of my free items in exchange for their inserts every week. They are just going to throw them away. If I give them a tube of toothpaste or shampoo in exchange for them, they get excited.

My newspaper guy wouldn't tell me what they do with the papers on Monday morning. I plan to head to the local recycling place to see if I can peruse their wares.

I don't know many people where I live, so I have to buy mine and seach all the web sites. This site has really made that easier, since I have seen most of the links here. Some of the stores are nice, and some of the paper delivery people are nice. Some aren't. You just keep plugging along until you find your routine I think. I wish I knew where to dumpster dive (not kidding!!!)...... ....
