Does anyone have any cute ideas for Valentines Day crafts this year? 1 of 5 of my dd's has a birthday very close to Valentines. I wanted to order a cupcake cake from a small grocery store chain in my area. Their cake is delicious! BUT there are 21 students in her class and the cake has 20 cupcakes. They will throw another cupcake in for $3.46 more, but I really can't afford to pay $26 for the cake + $3.46 for ONE extra cupcake. I know it sounds kind of selfish but that's ALOT for a cake I won't even enjoy with my daughter. So, I've decided the cake isn't worth $30. I need to find other alternatives with no peanut products that I can whip up in my own kitchen.
I'd like to make a craft that has a candy or treat element. Any ideas?

Why not make your own cupcakes? You can male 21 cupcakes for a lot less than $30 and then decorate them yourself any way you want.

I could do that! I was thinking about using the pillsbury valentines funfetti mix. I'm not a cake decorator but I could put sprinkles on top of the frosting.

I know you said no peanut butter but this is easy (most ppl use peanut butter)

Red melts or chocolate......pour over rice krispies. Mix well. Roll into balls and put in mini foils. Add sprinkles.

They will have heart pretzels out..... chocolate covered pretzels.

My go to recipe as I always have the stuff in my house......7 layer cookie.....so easy my husband makes them.

Get heart pan. Graham cracker crust. Fill with whatever you want from pantry as a layer.....
Heath
Chocolate Morsels
Nuts
M&m
Butterscotch morsels
I bought left over Christmas candy and am taking the red for Valentine and green for st Patrick's

Cover that layer with coconut. Drench with sweetened condensed milk. Cook 350 until golden brown. We used to beg my mom to make. I make them every year and it is the first to go.

JesterRose-Love your ideas! I like PB, but the teacher has requested no peanut products because there are children in her class with severe allergies. I LOVE the rice krispie balls! I think I'm going to make the last recipe here at home ! I have all the ingredients tonight!

One reason I dread cupcakes-I'm using a toaster oven to bake. It sometimes burns things really bad or they cook too slow or fast. I've learned tricks to the temp now but it really stinks to do 6 cupcakes at a time. I was thinking I'd do rice krispie balls and heart shaped cupcakes by using a marble between the pan and liner. Sound good?

I understand. My son is allergic to egg. If you notice, none contain any. With daycare, I end up baking for all birthdays. Lol

For 7 layer cookie we usually mix 2-3 things in that layer. Enjoy!

Have you tried candy bars in a layer on it? I was wondering if twix would work.

I wish I could find some recipes to use to feed 7 of us but not stand over the toaster oven for 2 hours to push out 7 meals. I don't have a crockpot or a stove. I only have an electric griddle. I 2 of us don't eat meat, but do eat dairy products and eggs. No allergies.

Have you tried a cake baked with butterfingers inside? A girl I know through a food bank in my area makes it every Christmas, last year she saved me a slice. It was delicious and it was infused with caramel I think. Very Moist!
Do you have any good recipes for mint fudge? I've failed many times at fudge and don't have a candy thermometer.

I love cake pops too! They are easy to make too! Have you made them before?

btw jesterrose-your baby is beautiful! She looks so perfect. I lost my youngest daughter this summer. You are blessed! She's gorgeous! Sorry don't mean to get off subject, but I love babies! I got to hold my nephew for the first time since my daughter passed away this Christmas on the 23rd. His little feet were adorable! He was like 6 hours old when I got to him (had to travel to GA). I wish I could see him everyday but it seems like Christmas is the only time our families can travel and enjoy the holidays together without a school or work function.

Easy treat is candy melts or chocolate over pretzels (any size or shape works) and you just have to melt the candy or chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. You can then decorate with sprinkles, crushed candy (candy canes work well) or nuts if you want.
