Here is my first question: Do you roll you diapers individually and then group them together OR Do you layer them in a circle? I think that I have seen them both and I am not sure wich one is going to look more professional. TIA

| Freebies 4 Mom: My $10 Diaper Cake I'm stowing this idea away. I'd never seen it done with pampers. I like the idea! Not every one uses cloth diapers. And pampers are much cheaper!

| I made a diaper cake with cloth diapers that you layered them in a circle. I suppose you could do that too with pampers.

I found it was easier.. especially if this is your first.. to roll each diaper and arrange in a circle.. Each individual diaper I put a rubber band on.. then take a long ribbon and tie them together in a circle... Get some cardboard cutouts in the size of circle you want... this will help provide some support to the cake... I know some cake places sell them... They are just cardboard circles... So you could make your own too.. |

My friend made us one for our baby shower. I would post a pic but our computer crashed a week ago and we haven't put our pics back on. I would love to see others pics if you didn't mind sharing! |

I love making the Baby Cakes. I don't use diapers but I use recieving blankets (something that corresponds to there theme) and baby towels. I fold them in thirds and keep wrapping them till I have the size I need, I make three different sizes and use baby safety pins to hold everything together. Then I buy small items to decorate on the outside like pacifiers, mittens, rattles, bibs, trial size lotions and powders, small shoes, etc. and they are attached buy coordinating ribbons. I always try to make each one better than the last time. ANOTHER great idea that I saw but have not done-buy the clear shoe rack that hangs on your door and put small items in each pocket. Like shoes, lotions, etc. and wrap them in coordination tissue paper. I saw this at a baby shower I went to and it was soooo cute; I'll do this the next time I have a baby shower to attend. Very simple idea. |

Those are a great idea. I have always wondered what the heck a diaper cake is. But I would definately consider doing this...and will keep this in mind for when my sis has a baby. Thanks for the pics.

Aw, Kandikid, that's adorable! And, I love that you used the Wags diapers that were so cheap this week! I made a little one for my sons teacher as an end of the year gift, she's due in August. It consisted of mostly free items from CVS! Gotta love those baby freebies! I took a pic of it, but I'd never in a million years figure out how to post it on here. Sorry!

mom3three: Go to tinypic.com. Where is says "file" click the "browse" button. Select the picture. Where it says "resize" choose message board from the drop down box. Click "upload now". May take a second. Copy the IMG code that starts with [IMG] (second one down). Paste it here. Should be done! |
