| Anyone know how to make the flip flops that.....
OK< so last year I saw a little girl wearing the most darling little pair of Duck Flip Flops- they were homemade with grosgrain ribbon being the beak, etc- they were too cute! I wanted to go ask where she got them but I was with my family celebrating my dad's birthday- so I didn't- I could kick myself now! I have looked on line and can not find instructions or even a pair to copy- anyone seen these or know where I can find directions or a picture? TIA!

I did a search too. They sound adorable. Lot's of flip flop crafts and I found a floppy duck. But no duck flip flops.

These I have searched for on line and to no avail! I figure if anyone can help find them it will be you guys! They were made with grosgrain ribbon which was I guess tied to the front of the flip flops. The orange grosgrain ribbon was tied so that two loops made the beak- I want to say the duck had a little bow in its hair and that he had google eyes- adorable-I want to kick myself for not stopping her!

I would love to see some others made with ribbon in animals if you come across some that look like animals- I want something that maybe I could make to coordinate with clothing- frogs would be cute too- but have my heart set on those duck flip flops!

Poshpoodle: I have searched for you and here is an article about flip flops and kits...Micheals Crafts is mentioned here....maybe hers was made out of a kit....another place i would try is Hobby Lobby Flip-Flops With embellishments one of the hottest trends in this season's shoes and sandals, combined with Americans' affinity for flip-flops, the thong sandal is increasingly showing up on store shelves, glammed up with beading, sequins, gems and other embellishments. In craft stores, flip-flop kits are flying off the shelves, and some have created a sort of cottage industry of handcrafted sandals. "We sold out of them very quickly," said Joe Berasley, store manager of Michael's Arts and Crafts, Spring Township, PA about the store's summer allotment of customizable flip-flops, a new product introduced this spring. The same thing happened at A.C. Moore in Wyomissing, according to store manager Mike Tufano. Already sold out of the store's season allotment of flip-flops, Tufano said he had to order direct from the vendor to meet the demand. "They sell well," he said. A.C. Moore sells the shoes all with bright patterns and cute cartoony prints separately, along with an array of craft items such as beads, rhinestones, feathers, appliques and eyelash yarn to customize the straps. The store also offers an all-inclusive children's kit. Making customized flip-flops is a trend that's been building for at least two seasons, said Diane Kozak, owner of Unraveled Yarn in Douglassville. ok I think I know how you can make them... Sorry got no instructions.. but based on what I have seen.. here is what I came up with... Buy the yellow and orange ribbon.. I really think that feathery ribbon would look cute... but go with what you like... Get two googly eyes.... and some craft glue... Start with orange around the flip flops band... then keep looping the orange downward... till you get to the front. glue to the front edge... Then work backwark with the white to create part of the head... In the last row, you will have to run a piece of white ribbon and glue to each side of the sandal. This would almost be like crocheting.... Add the googly eyes.. and I think you will have it... So you actually have me curious.. I may have to go get a pair and see if I can do this and post the instructions and pictures... |

....seriously, it is hard to visualize what you are saying about how to do it,but I see them in my head- for the most part! I thought they would be great for my DD, and with the craze of flip flops, i thought they would be great for craft shows...ebay, etc! And then we could expand to other animals- school mascots, whatever!

Oh you do not really have to do that- just post a pick so that I can see them- then I will copy if you end up doing it.
