| need cheap organizers for my class!
I need help please! I want to buy supplies for my students in my coupon class this fall- I want to get a small organizer and that week's inserts, but I dont want something too expensive. I've looked at dollar stores and grocery stores, and can't find anything. Any ideas?

I wouldn't buy them their organizer...here's why. We all use a different style than others and prefer it for various reasons. If you start someone out with a sorting/organzing style that doesn't fit them, it could stop them in their tracks (it would me) but maybe you could look at getting them some couponing supplies - scissors/file folders/letter openers and have a variety of binder styles they could look at. I like the box, someone else likes a binder, others like reciepe kind of file, some file by insert, some file by coupons type or manufacturer...so I would get them the perifperhy stuff and maybe a list of what they need for each kind of system, but then let them go out and pick their own....just my cent...

Thanks, that is a good idea. I may do that as well, but b/c my class is for beginners, who haven't used coupons before, I think I'll set them up with the little accordian file folder thing and if they decide it doesn't work for them, they've only spent a few bucks. I found some on ebay for 1.99 each, so if I can get a bunch, I may do that. But, I hadn't thought about scissors, calculators, pens, etc. I was just hoping someone knew where to find them for cheap that I could pick them up instead of have shipped. Thanks for the reply!

I know that some people have found the smaller accordian holders at target in the $1 spot, might want to try there.

I got a spare one from the dollar spot so I can organize my pending trades. Even if they upgrade to a binder or box, it can still be helpful. As a new couponer, if someone told me I'd be carrying around 5 pounds of coupons everywhere I go, I may not have really wanted to get into it. Let them get started the newbie way and figure out just how crazy it can get!Good luck on your class!

If you're teaching the class at a church or civic organization, consider an announcement asking members to save their inserts to donate to the class.

definitely the dollar spot, they are the right size, although i LOVE THE binder, its a huge committment, (for me) to keep it going, and I usually end up with the dollar spot one good luck with your class, your good deed will take you places |

Thanks for all the great replies! I have NEVER seen them in the dollar spot at my Target... bummer Maybe I'll have to check other cities. I've looked at our dollar stores, wags, cvs. The class isn't until Fall, so I'm sure I'll find something by then.Maybe someone can help w/ my next question-- I was thinking of asking the actual insert distributors for donations. Could I possibly find an email or phone number to Redplum, P&G, Smart source and explain the class I'm teaching and ask them to donate copies of their inserts? The class is at the city community center, so I could write a letter on their letterhead as some sort of proof that I'm not keeping them for myself. Otherwise, I'll probably ask around for donations of inserts or just buy them. I'm really excited to teach this class. I'm a teacher (as my occupation), but this is a totally new subject for me to teach and I'm really geeked about it!

| I have seen several sizes and colors at Target- the smaller check size, the longer letter size and the 8x11 size- all at the dollar spot for $1.

I bought some of the accordian type coupon holders at Deals for a dollar. Another idea would be to show several styles of organizing, that way each person could take their pick of what works for them.

staples has small index card holders for a quarter this week...they have a couple of dividers in them like an accordian file and they snap shut. They're little but would get someone started fairly cheaply
