Thanks! I am still not sure what method to use.. I've been a couponer for 3 years but with adding a new baby, and then not getting out to shop much, plus shopping only for groceries at Aldi now, I'm fumbling to figure out what's worth clipping + what new organization method is best nowadays. I used to use 2 expandable coupon accordian files with an envelope system, but find I don't have time to clip + file anymore. I am thinking of using the no clip/insert file system, but I don't like that I won't have my q's with me in the store. I think I might try just cutting + filing all non grocery q's, and then filing the inserts that have grocery q's in them since I probably won't use those. So, still trying to figure it out!

I like the idea of havin full inserts on hand and then just clipping as needed but my question is when you have inserts the coupons have different exp dates so how does that work out? I see that you can file the inserts under the week and date the insert came out but as far as the individual coupons inside how do u know when some are going to exp or whatever? Help :X

I know most, if not all, those who file whole insets will either clip immediately any they know they will use and make a list somewhere of those coupons. That way you know you will remember the most important ones to you. Then file away the others that you will only use if a good deal comes along. It's not as big a deal if those expire without you noticing them.

I've recently started using Lemon.com to keep track of all our receipts. I love the idea of it, so even if I do have to keep the receipts I have the ability to just jump online on the computer or phone and find something that needs looked up. I've been looking, but I haven't found any coupon organizers online similar to that premise. I'd love to know if there are any. Something were you don't have to add the information yourself, but you take a picture and it documents it for you--expiration date and all. It'd be really helpful and I don't see how people could really "scam" the coupons by using it. |

Thanks for this post. My coupons were all over the place, in the night stand drawer, in my girls easter basket, in the bottom of my purse. I would go to the store then when I got home be mad because I left the coupon. Thank you again, you post lots of great info.

How do you organize your EXTRA coupons? Like the ones that you have for trades? I use a binder for the ones I use. Thanks! |

K, got the organizing down, leaning towards binder/photo inserts. Now, does anyone have any links or ideas on any particular spread sheets to keep track of what Q's and how many Q's you have?![]() |

I've got 2 binders with the cling pages that you use for photos. I use one binder for Food items, and the other for non food. I organize by month of expiration. I put anything that expires by the 15th of the month towards the front of the month, and anything later to the back. If I have a coupon that expires within the first few days of the next month, I put it with the end of the previous month. I think make a list of what I need and compare with my coupons, and then take the sale adds and see if its on sale anywhere anytime soon. I go into the store with the coupons that are on my shopping list. My list contains the amount, and size I need to buy for the coupon to work, and is ordered for the setup of the store. There is no need to shuffle my coupons in the store unless they are out of an item I need. When I check out, I then can just hand off my pile of coupons.

Ok, so I have an accordion folder for my coupons but, when I get in the store, everything goes haywire. How do you know which ones are there and which ones you need? Do you take them out before or leave them in and have a list for them? I just tend to over think it and get everything out of order...any advice would be appreciated!

I've tried every method but the binder is the one I keep coming back to! I don't keep them all unless I can use it or my mom can (unless its high value for trades) Otherwise I donate them to our library coupon box and I get to take some someone else left that I can use. I also tried category tabs but too many items imo fall into more than one category and makes me scatterbrained... .So I've changed to abc and have one binder for food and one for everything else. (My new binder has 2 sets of rings so one side is food n the other is for the miscellaneous. ) It's all trial and error until you find what works for YOU!

My daughter has a binder and at first she put ALL her coupons in it. It got big FAST. I don't have a binder. I have 2 envelopes and a file for my inserts. One envelope is for coupons I am using on that particular shopping trip. The other envelope is for already cut coupons (usually that I received in the mail) that I am waiting to use. I keep both env in my purse so if I find a deal on something in the already clipped coupons I can use it. If I'm going out of town on a big shopping trip (I live in the middle of nowhere with just a small associated food store in town) I take my file box with my inserts just in case. I'm actually looking for a small accordian coupon holder that I can use to take to the store so I can find my coupons faster in each store section instead of the envelope. |

Holy UN-Organization Batman! I'm new to this & the organization of my growing coupon collection is driving my OCD (not diagnosed) off the charts. When I first started I decided to go w/ the binder method because I can see everything when flipping through it. I started my couponing journey one store at a time & being that I shopped primarily @ the commissary, it made sense to organize my binder by the aisles in the commissary. But after reading through all the CVS, WAGS, Publix, & Winn Dixie forums, I want to start expanding (slowly.. very slowly!) to other stores based off deals/prices. However, I'm finding that my original organization method of dividing coupons up by commissarry aisle, is not going to work because for whatever reason the aisles @ the commy are mixed up in weird ways & it makes absolutely no sense to me. Ok, enough rambling (I ramble when overwhelmed, sorry).. I'm just trying to find ways of organizing my binder to where the different sections can be applied to all stores? Any tips? I also have restaurant Q's galore, retail Q's, etc. so do I make a section for those too or group them together? I just want the easiest & most-sensible way of organizing this mess |
