I recently did a deal at Target - buy 5 boxes of Kashi cereal and get a 5.00 target gift card. they are 2.88 a box - had a 1.50 coupon each and price matched it with Walgreens ad 2/$5. So after the guy realized i was getting all the boxes of cereal for free - he said I can't do anymore. (there was no limit posted) So i called Target Corp. and after a big mess of 4 other people - I had one lady tell me it is not the law they have to accept coupons - ok, but I an using your system and not doing anything wrong - why was I denied? end result - I am getting a 15.00 gift card for the trouble. went to Walmart - have a 2.00 off any huggies diaper product - the coupon says Huggies will pay the retailer face value which means 2.00 - so I got a bunch of 30 packs which are 1.47 - which means I should still have a credit and I was buying other items - this big deal was made from the cashier - managers were called over - they tried to say huggies never gives out 2.00 coupons (false) and they would only give me a 1.47 credit. But that is not right! It says they will be paid 2.00 - so why should I not get the benefit of the left over?? I ended up not getting the wipes because I didn't feel they should make out. I have just been having a hard few days with getting people to take the coupons and am walking away frusterated!! Last edited by lovindago; 09-22-2009 at 07:02 AM. |

I don't know why some cashiers think they might get in trouble if they let you "have" things for free. They don't understand that they will the money from the coupons, if they offer to have things price matched they must know people are gonna get somethings for free. Some cashiers are too crazy! Walmart is awful about overage, I think they have said its not given so you shouldn't expect to get it, but if you do thats great!! Im sorry you are having to go through all of those crazy trips!!

Not sure if this helps but here is what I learned at Walmart. I always park and checkout in the garden because my car is easier to reach. The staff there seem trained and they want to move each customer out as fast as possible. I get the feeling they have garden duties as well as cashier duties? In general no matter where I shop, I have better luck with younger or friendlier staff. I also noticed a big difference if the person checking me out also likes deals. The ones who never try deals seem the grumpiest? At Walgreens the friendly girl that greets EVERY customer with a smile as they enter even tried to teach me RR! Where as the next time I was there the staff member never did RR and sort of treated me weird. She even watched me a bit after I checked out? |

Some stores policies state that the coupons will be adjusted down to the actual price of the item so you can't get the overage. The store is correct in that it can refuse to accept coupons if it desires. I spoke to someone at Purina about a free product coupon that Purina had sent me that was denied at Target. With a lot of coupon fraud going on these days, a lot of stores are exercising a lot of caution when accepting high value or free item coupons, especially if you have an entire stack of them. If stores accept 100 coupons for a free $5 bag of dog food and the coupons turn out to be fraudulant, then the store is out $500. My Wags cashier explained this to me when I questioned why she read each and every coupon in its entirety before scanning it. |

i get that at every store i go to....to Target, Wags, Fry's, Alby's, all the same. Even low value qs. Target has gotten a LOT worse this past week...the cashiers scrutinize each coupon. Told me today you can't use a coupon on a clearance or a sale item. ??? They are still getting the face value plus S&H. My q's at Target today were all from a paper, not printables, and I didnt have 1 Target + 1 MFR like I usually do. Fry's last week tried to tell me they had a limit per transaction (which they dont) - I only had 15 coupons and I had over 40 items...?? She stopped the whole line, ask the Manager, discussed with him at the next door register, voiced what "she" thought it should be, then ended up taking my q's. Gets frustrating...I agree. Try to save a buck and you get crushed alot.
