| tracking your spending....
do you do it and if so how do you do it? i have a log on my computer i record my receipts in once a week. I record the total before saving, the total savings and most importantly the amount OOP. With all the little purchases here and there each week its easy to lose track of how much I'm actually spending so the log keeps me within budget each month. when I get rebates or earn money from my stockpile I include that as well on my log since that's really cash that goes back into my grocery budget.

I used to keep an Excel spreadsheet, but haven't done that in a long time. I would be interested in seeing other people's responses though.

I have mine in an excel spreadsheet that someone on here sent me. Each store is a different tab. with the last tab being for total overall savings. It tracks amount spent and amount saved. It also has a section for ECB's, RR's and catalina's so you can track that as well.

| Spreadsheet
I log info from each receipt and keep a running total of spending, savings and %'s...and monthly savings totals for each store %'s are also color-coded... > 50% - green, 10-50% - yellow, < 10% - pink I also have rebates/RRs/ECBs in a separate column, so I don't double count them when I use them again feel free to modify so it works for you!

I have an excel spreadsheet that I started. The only thing I need to add is the date of purchase. I have different columns for different types of purchases - HBA, food, cleaning, clothes, etc. I list the store, the total OOP and the total coupon savings. For Walgreens, that means, I don't list RRs when I get them, but I list them as part of the coupon savings when I use them. I've saved almost $200 in the last 2 months or so. I didn't put dates on so I don't know when I started. Also, I don't think I found all my receipts. I need to find a place to store them so I can pull them out if I find rebates for things I have already bought.
