| Coupon from 1972
I just thought this was funny and wanted to share. I was going through a cookbook that I bought at an auction of a very old lady's house and in it, I found a coupon for thirty-five cents off shredded wheat! It even says, "No Expiration Date" on the coupon! I know it is from 1972 because it was torn out of a magazine and the back of the coupon has a little article blurb about the upcoming Munich Olympics. I thought it was hilarious! I am actually slightly tempted to use it just to see if it still works. I would also think that in 1972 that was considered a high value coupon?

I'm not sure where, but I remember recently reading that someone else had one of those old cereal (maybe oatmeal) Q's and made numerous copies because of the no expiration date and no bar code -- they were on a fraud page or something. Anyone else recall seeing that?

Of course, someone always has to ruin it for all of the honest couponers. It always amazes me what people think is "worthwhile" to do (like photocopying coupons).

My grandmother has a whole envelope full of coupons from the 70's and 80's! It is fun to look through them, and almost all of them have no expiration date!

I did a lot of couponing in the 70's and 80's and it was really hard for me when I started this back up and how fast some of the Q's expire. 30 days!! I can't even think that fast. Now I have to clip, sort, put a list together and plan my shopping way to quickly. I miss those slower times!!

Seems like everything is fast forward these days. I found an old Q in my mom's cook book a few years back. Have no idea where it ever when to or what is was for. Why do coupons expire so fast anyway? I see a lot expire in 2 weeks. |

I just won an auction full of them and didn't even think about the fact that they wouldn't have a bar code. Do you think I can use them?

I don't know why not. They would just have to put them in by hand instead of scan them. As long as the company is still in business and there is no exp on them I would. |
