[Clipping Along]

I'm new to this game and want to ensure I'm getting the most from it and doing it correctly (and that the cashier/store is doing it correctly). When using coupons do you load the conveyer belt with your items, let the cashier scan them and then present the coupons, or do you present your coupons as the items are scanned?? It seems to me that if you wait til the end of the transaction to present the coupons, it's too late to see if you got the savings you expected (not to mention you haven't seen the sales receipt until everything has been packed up and you've signed your charge slip, etc)

I have never tried redeeming a coupon after each item is scanned, I don't know how that works. What I've always done is have cashier scan all items and hit total. then I start giving my coupons. If I have just a few coupons, I give them all at the same time BUT if I have 20 or more with different face values, I give them in batches or sometimes I tell cashier for what each one is as I hand it to them. That assures both of us that all coupons are scanned and if there is any problem, I either take off the item from transaction or just take the coupon and still buy item. At SWM, soon after I check-out, I made it a habit to check my receipt immediately to make sure all my coupons scanned correctly.

I try to place the coupon with the product. Which usually works and makes transactions quicker. Since there isn't any looking through bags for the item. Some stores do require the coupons be presented before items are rung up.

I hand my coupons to the cashier prior to buying anything...they normally look through to see if there are any freebies so they can write the price down as they scan it. I've never had any problems doing it this way. I also watch closely to make sure none get tossed or missed.

I turn in my coupons after the cashier has rang up everything this way I can watch her/him ring up the coupons(each one, sometimes thay skip them) Also I put free items with the coupon so cashier will have the price right there. Same as buy one get one free.
