Help Sign What is considered a fair trade for coupons?

New to this wonderful site, & wanted to know (from all you experts here ); asking for advice:

What is considered a fair trade when trading coupons?

Is it more or less of equal value? Like a $1. q for a $1. q; and 2 - $1. q's for a $2. q?

I don't want to offer the wrong thing & accidentally offend anyone!

Thanks in advance to everyone for any help!

It all depends on how "HOT" the coupon is.

Usually it is =$ for =$ in coupons. Though if it is a hot coupon like the $2.50 electrasol was, you may be trading for more coupons that just the $2.50 value.

Each person has their comfort zone on what they feel is correct and fair.

I definitely second what KM said, but also feel free to trade what you don't need for what you do. There are always q's that others want that I just don't need, and I will give every one of them away even if they only have 1 I actually need. I could care less about equal value as long as I get what I will use and the person I am trading with gets what they need. As long as we are all happy, it's a great trade!

Thanks for your reply! I am just trying to get ideas, because as I said, I don't want to accidentally & unintentially "offend" someone.

I also see some people list what they have for FSOT & ask people to contact them with offers; so I wanted to know where to start an offer at; that was why I was trying to get an idea.

But I guess we can "go from there". I most definitely would want both people to be happy.

That was a great question. I don't feel comfortable asking up-front for a specific price. I'd rather make a trade, if possible and work out a 'fair' deal.

Great question I def agree as long as everyone is happy then all is good, It never hurts to make an offer, If they dont feel its enough they will either ask if you have anything else or say sorry Im gonna have to pass! Happy trading this site will help you save alot!

cnuland: Thanks! Since I'm new, I wanted to kind of get an idea as to what was fair & acceptable, as not to offend anyone. I figured there are a lot of "newbies" like myself who would want to know as well.

What if you are trading coupons for stamps or gift cards? I wouldn't make sense to pay $1 on a gift card for a $1 coupon. What is common then?

Exactly what KM said... Although some members here are very easy to trade with. I suggest asking before offering what you have.

for stamps it's usually : 3 stamps for every $10 value in coupons or depending how "hot" the coupons are

for GC/PP/CC it's usually : 10%-40% of the value and of course the higher the percentage, the more valuable the coupons is (IE: Free coupon)

Ok Most People would Consider 10% as a Payment For a Coupon, Some people may ask for more But use that as a Starting Guide. (You are paying for the persons TIME to Clip and Find the Q you may want)

You technically Cannot "Buy" Coupons, So most People Realize This and Lets say You want 20 $2.00 Off Coupons. And The person Wants Stamps Or GC in trade, Think more of 10% of the cost of the Q, So That $4.00 Worth of Stamps or GC.

But Everyone is Different.

Also When Trading Q's Let the person Know if you have so many they want That you can add stamps as well, Most people would ask for 1 or 2 to Make up the difference In lack of Q's they Want that you may not have for trade.

I really Hope that this Helps!

Thank yoy, mlb1985! Yes; that helped tremendously! So many people were just saying that it should just be a fair trade. I and other newbies knew that; & wanted to do that; that's why we were asking the question! ;o) "What is considered a fair trade?" We wanted to be fair! But we wanted to know what to offer; what would be considered fair. Thank you so much; it was a great help!
