This looks so awesome! My binder is done by store aisles at the store I work at. It works but I seem to have a hard time getting them all into my binder in a reasonable time frame. Any suggestions to the cutting and filing process?

Fantastic job! I currently use three expandable card files for my coupons and divide them in categories, like breakfast, snacks, dairy, etc. I notice you have them alphabetized. What will you do if you find Q's that go between two existing sleeves in your book? Do you move everything or just insert another page and move everything back one to allow more room? I'm waiting for the school binders to go on clearance after all of the kids have picked over them. Schnucks has some really cool zippered one's and I figure they'll be on sale in the next month or so. I am just not sure about the binder - but it really gets to be a pain taking three large expandable card files with me shopping.

Now here's the deal on the cutting and filing process. Well, here's my deal. LOL! I usually have an idea of what will be used for home, coupon trains, soup kitchen donations, etc. These are the only Qs clipped and placed in my binder (outside of the Qs I may order online). This has proven to be a time saver for me! Now if you have children, this will be a good time to get them in on the clipping and this will also cut your time down substantially. Plus it would get in some great family conversation time. This would work like a charm if you cut all the Qs from your inserts. I know a lot of people that cut every Q and it works for them. Then again, I'm off shopping before them. Just kidding! Be sure to use the clipping method that works best for you. Oops, back to the cutting and filling. For the remaining Qs that I do not clip, these go in a plastic portable file organizer by date (ex: SS 7/26, RP 8/2...). I also place a sheet that lists all coupons in the insert in front of each insert. This helps me know what Qs are there without flipping through each one (I get these from coupon sites that sell the inserts). Trust me, for those sales that come up, in which I left the Qs in the inserts, this has proven to be a fast and easy method of pulling them quickly. HTH! Let me know if you develop any quick and easy tips you can share! I love learning new methods of saving time cutting and filing!

With this method, there's no need to move any Qs or sleeves, just add a new Q to an empty location on the sleeve. Thank you for this question. Quote:

Thank you for this informative post I've been couponing for 27 years but never had a binder, just the little accordian type coupon holder That type is simply NOT the best when shopping and trying to figure out stuff at the store So, thanks sooooo very much, I'm gonna start working on one for me now |

! Remember when we would keep the UPC codes and get all sorts of great goodies (Campbell Soup bowls, cups, aprons, etc). LOL!!! I remember doing that approximately 20 years ago and loving it. But of course, I wasn't into coupon clipping then, my mother was, but man should I have taken more notes! Glad to see you are still at it and thank you for the wonderful remarks.

Got a great new coupon binder a few weeks ago and so far am loving it. Went from the accordion file to a Mead 1 1/2 inch binder about 6 months ago and finally outgrew it. The zipper was hard to close and the pages hard to turn because they were so tight. I found a Caseit Z binder at Staples, got the one that has two 1 1/2 inch rings, neat thing is there are two zippered sections and I keep all my foods in one section and all my nonfood items in the other. It feels like I'm working with a small binder because they are totally seperated. It holds a lot of coupons, mine weights 8 1/2 pounds. I look like I'm walking in the store with a large briefcase, and yes I take it every time I go shopping even if it stays in the car cause you just never know what kind of deal you may run into. Wish I could post a pic for ya'll but I don't know how to do any of that. It is shown on the Caseit website if you're interested. |
