Okay, so do any of you have any tricks on how to get coupon inserts for free or cheap without having to pay $2 for a newspaper? I have a hard time buying a newspaper that Im gonna throw away just for the coupons and I hate paying $2 for those couple of inserts. Anyone have any ideas?

Someone posted when I was new here about going to Starbucks on late Sun and check the papers people left in the bin. Sun when DD was a orchestra, I went Panera to grab a snack. There were 2 sets in the bin from papers people had discarded. I might try this more often.

I also tell people who I suspect don't use them, they don't mind sharing. I asked a co-worker, may ask a few more. My parents give me theirs. Plus, we have a Sat preview paper for $1. HTH

take them out of your neighbors sunday papers before they wake up

just kidding...make friends with the newspaper guy if you get it delivered..see if you can get the hook up

I actually buy them from a lady.. 25 cents an insert. I only buy them and how many when I need them soit's great! I always get my money back plus some!

They also said to go to a recycling center and you pay them to dumpster dive for inserts.

If your paper has an early addition you can purchase them on saturday for the weekday price instead of a sunday price.

I don't even know where those are! My town might not have them.

Dumpster diving I guess is the way to go.

I'm sure I spend about $500 on papers a year, but it doesn't bother me since I save thousands a month!

OK, you all are corrupting me...DH says he's convinced my pic will show up on the wall of the post office someday...for all that FREE product I walk out of stores with!

Go visit a few convenience stores or grocery stores on Sunday night. I have had good luck with asking if I can pull inserts then. I also have a local convenience store where I found someone I know works every monday morning. It's hit and miss, but she does save the leftovers for me - usually anywhere from 5 - 15!

Oh, and I put coupon boxes in both of our churches - take what you want, leave what you want. It works well, and I ship the expireds for use by overseas military families.

my parents deliver several hundred papers they give me their extra inserts. i end up with at anywhere from 2- 80 or so but i can also get them from the recycle bin at my local paper place to i suppose...if i really needed to. i usually buy the ones i didnt get , cause areas get diff q's.

Our Sunday edition is not less expensive...double paper 3.00.

I started taking mine and my friends to the shelter once a month so they can use them for the puppies and for dogs after surgeries. My SPCA desperately needs it...check yours out.

I have tried to catch the paper guy at Kroger several Sunday mornings, and I have. When I asked if he had any extra coupons, he said he couldn't give them to me. Terrorist are doing something with them. (My severally white self looks like a terrorist) I now think he punked me, he is always kind of rude.

I go to Starbucks and IHOP for extra Qs on Sunday.

This past sunday, while in my usually Sunday garb (kaki pants, cute brown loafer, white button down shirt, no make up and my hair is back. HEY! It's Sunday!)the following happened:

I go into Starbucks, and order my tall coffee treat, only do this once a week.
I sit down next to the paper bin, in full view of the barristas, (they see me there, doing that most Sunday afternoons) and start going through the papers, pulling ads and Qs.
I finish my coffee, get up and leave, as I'm exiting, I hear some snotty lady say, "That woman just stole part of the paper!"
I just laughed and kept walking

I went over to IHOP, and where they sell papers right inside the store, was nothing but a stack of ads and coupons! SCORE!

I hit our local recycling/trash station..no trash pickup where I live so I need to bring in about once a week..and there are 2 semi truck sized bins just for newspapers..got permission from the workers to sort through to my heart's content..I've only gotten a handful on bad days/or last week when it was pouring rain and I didn't want to mess with..to entire paper grocery sacks of just inserts...no money involved..just a bit of time...

I am friends with 2 employees of my newspaper... One is the president's secretary and the other is in charge of circulation. Needless to say I get TONS of inserts.

Just do what I did, go to the convenience store you get your paper from and ask them the name of the paper person and what time Monday does he or she comes in to pick up what that wasn't sold. Be their when they show up to pick them up. You may be surprised and gets lots of coupons. I did, he gives me a whole bundle each week.
