If you go with the Dollar store papers, check them! Our Dollar store papers are always missing the inserts. Every single time I've been, the inserts have been missing. (The first time, I didn't think to check, and I was kicking myself all week!)

| I have a "friend" that has told me she does this and I chewed her butt about it, I could never do it, that is stealing I have never been able to steal. If I hear of a friend buying a sunday paper I ask for the inserts, I have also gotten bunches off of freecycle but now a group of people have started a coupon trading club here in town so I doubt anymore will be posted on freecycle. You can also get inserts off ebay

After I see if the inserts are good on Sunday morning, I head to Dollar Tree and buy several more Sunday papers for only a buck each. That's much better than the $1.75 (or maybe it's $2 now) that our delivery paper costs. I take the newspaper to our local recycling center and then grab whatever inserts I see (without diving) -- most are packed full and I couldn't dive if I wanted to!

What about the laundromat? (I've been trying to think of places - other than Starbucks - that people are likely to read the newspaper, but not keep it.)

I don't know why Dede's advertisement came up... I am not affiliated with her. I guess since I put her website in my reply. Rose |

you can get newspapers for 1.00 at the dollar store. they are open on sundays at 10 but the papers go quick. also, you can register for free to red plum and smart source and print the coupons. however, some of the coupons are not printable and do not show up. for example, last sunday breyers had a coupon in the red plum insert. i wanted 2 and it was not available on line, only in the insert.

This is such a helpful thread! Thank you all for your tips on how to get inserts. I am curious what day is good for "dumpster diving". People will throw in their paper whenever it is convenient, so just wondering how your successful divers time it. Maybe I should just go look!

Let me just make a little suggestion if you have a lot of inserts to cut. Separate the pages and lay them out with like pages. Then cut them all at once. Some people staple them to make them stay together but I just hold them. I can cut about 10 comfortably, more than that it's hard to cut. Also cutting multiples means they are already together to organize in your box or binder.

I asked my newspaper delivery guy if he ever gets any extra coupons and he has me hooked up. He gives me about 30-35 extras each week. He doesn't understand coupons, but willingly passes them to me. I have lots of friends I share them with. Having multiple coupons allows you to stock up when something is on a good sale. Plus, it lets me give a lot to a lot of different people and groups.

some really "creative" ideas for getting coupons...right now i'm limited to the generosity of friends and family but i am sending a little note to my neighbors letting them know that i will be glad to accept any and all cast offs and was going to start a coupon box at church as well. I will have to try the coffee shop approach...we have a DD right down the street...thinking that might be a good place to start the hunt. Another suggestion might be to try local hotels...we stayed at one recently (not on a sunday though) and they had stacks of freebie papers in the lounge

What is the place called that you can actually order the extra inserts? That way you can split it with someone and actually save on postages.

Check out the paper recycling bins in your neighborhood - usually at church or school parking lots. Often good pickings at the church bins Sun afternoon or evening. The bins have to be full enough to reach the papers easily for me, but it can be a real score!

I placed an ad on Criagslist for a newspaper delivery person to contact me. I actually trade some of my kids clothes for inserts.

Moneymaker, I always wondered where you got your Qs. You're such a great trader/seller. Thanks for sharing with your AFC buddies! I might try your idea. Happy 4th!

I use my RR each week and I get them for free that way and I use my 1.00 off your next order coupons so for three years I have never paid for a paper out of my pocket this way. I can say that I see people putting money in a vending machine and they take them all with one payment I figured they will have to answer sooner or later.
