Tonight I was getting my CVS trip ready and I remembered that Target had $2 peelies on the mens nivea wash- which would give me a $2 overage this week so off I went to Target......It dawned on me while I was there that it may have cost me $2 in gas to get their LOL. By they way I did get the peelie and several other great coupons there and at CVS. I also gto some nice teacher goodies for .25 but till what was I thinking???

I just started laughing when I saw your post because that is so something I would do. I justify it by remembering that couponing and finding good deals is my hobby and brings me joy.

The other day I went a good 15 miles out of the way to get some Reach coupons. I also ended up getting a good deal on some Gas X for DS...and got some more Q books at CVS....but did I really need to? No. Did I, ummm yes!! Don't tell DH, he'd think I'm crazy!

I was just wondering how many hours I logged in at or on the way to the grocery store this week...seriously I could get a day job for all the hours I am spending...but I am having a good time too!

I think during the weeks when I get REALLY carried away, I waste more time, money and energy ON couponing than I actually save BY couponing. I always justify it by figuring that at least in actual monetary value I break even at worst (even if I drive out of my way to go to another Target store, the money I save on the item makes up for the gas, etc.) so it is still way better than a lot of hobbies that are just as time consuming and far more expensive ... golfing comes to mind. Plus, I at least get the shopping done while I'm at it, and I have fun sometimes. Of course, now and again, I actually save a ton of money, so I do better than break even if you look at my totals for the month or even the year.

I hate when I get carried away and spend money on items I never use, just because they are so cheap - like spending even 30 cents on men's deoderant, with no adult males in the house. I donate it usually, but still, when I really don't have even an extra dollar some weeks, it would make more sense not to spend that money - even if it is a nearly free item and ups my "savings". Most of the time I remember that it isn't truely saving money when I buy stuff I will never use
