Hello everyone! I'm new here and very frustrated with the coupons in the DC area. Rarely do I see anything good and most of the coupons are for stuff that I don't want or use. I am not going to buy something that we don't eat (I'm talking about items in general, not specific brands) just because I had a coupon. The make up coupons are all for brands I don't wear and the hair product coupons I get are never for the ethnic hair care products that I use...stuff like that. Also, when I do find something I want, it's usually pretty sucky, like save $.40 on 3 or save $1 on three. In talking to my friend in Dallas, I discovered that her inserts are for more cents off than the ones we have here are and that really made me mad. Anyhow, I am frustrated. Our bill is too high and I'm trying to find ways to save money, but I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. We have one store that doubles up to $.50 (Giant) but it's usually cheaper for me to go to Shoppers without coupons than it is to take my 2 or 3 coupons and double them at Giant. Any tips or advice for me?

Go to the coupon borg forum, find the list of emails for each company, send the companies you like emails telling them so and ask them to send you soem Q's!!!!! It only takes a few min per email, and you will be pleasantly surprised with what you get!1( be warned, not all companies will send you Q's)
This month I have gotten:
2 free sweet babyrays ( BBQ sauce)
1 $3 off any campbells product
1 12pk polar seltzer
1 free bottle of newmans own marinade or dressing
1 free clorox wipes
3 free's for mission products
freebryers iceceram
1 $1 off clondike bars
2 .50 eggbeaters
3 $2 off saralee cheesecake bites
1 free any boca product

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few!
I spend 1 hour every friday night writing to companies, I get something in the mail almos every day!!!
SC johnson is really good about sending free product Q's!!!

Also look at the "huge list of printable coupons" here, you should find some good stuff there.
Also take advantage of the ISO/FSOT fourm..... Just because you don't want a Q, doesnt mean someone else will not want it, and chances are they will have something you want!!! HTH!

I am in the same vicinity as you. I will say that you do have to look harder for your deals...look here to trade with people for Q's found in other areas.

I find my best deals at Giant even though the don't double high. I don't know if DC has Weis ( I am 45 min north) but they double to .99.

Don't they have Harris Teeter in your area? I know they're in VA. They also double up to 99 cents.

I don't have Weis and Harris Teeter is an hour away. I have Shoppers, Giant, and Bloom. I also have a membership to BJ's (warehouse).

Look for people who can trade with you. I know my Publix and Kroger will only double up to .50 so a .55 or .75 coupon is really worth less to me than a .50 coupon. Some areas will double those higher coupons so usually I trade those coupons to find the ones I can use.

Also, look on the coupon clippers' website for available coupons and order!

Just stick around AFC and keep reading...it's takes awhile to get used to this life but once you do, it is great!

I live in the DC area (Silver SPring) and I do really well! CM_ANGEL is right, hang in there, it takes a while to get it down. Really read throught the forums of stores you shop at and/ or any in your vicinity. I know you have CVS's everywhere, check that forum, you can really do well there. And as FSC says, start trading to get better (to you) q's. Don't just cut the ones you think you will use, cut them all and trade the ones you don't need. Don't give up, this is so worth it!
